My Daughter & SIL, three adult grandchildren with spouses & children, SIL's parents & sibling will all be together to enjoy dinner in my grand daughters new home. Although I am only 15 minutes away my grand son will pick me up and take me since I no longer drive. I will take Uber back to my own nest because I can leave when I like.

Sounds like a nice day, Lon. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

Our two daughters and their families will be coming to town (from the Austin area) for a couple of days. There's a gathering at my MIL's with extended family on Thanksgiving Day.

@Lon Tanner I'm glad you live close to some of your family so you have a special place to go for Thanksgiving.

Neither of our families are very close anymore. It happens. We do miss my wife's family, but. So, we will do what we've done before on Thanksgiving...…..make breakfast, watch Macy's Thanksgiving Parade and go out for Thanksgiving Dinner. For a couple of years, we made Thanksgiving Dinner at home, but that just seems to be too much work for two people. However, we loved the dinner we made!

Once again, I'll be spending a lot of time in the car with my son and his late wife's relatives, traveling. It is beginning to wear on me since my arthritis and SUVs do not mix well. They drive hard and are uncomfortable. We have to travel from South Jersey to Northern Jersey and I do mean North. Much further up from where I live. I enjoy the company of these folks but after the first of the year I am moving near my son down the shore and I've told him, my traveling days are fini. Just short distances from now on and that is final. We always have terrific meals and fun. Her cousin is a chef, so I guess you know it is the best. Bless you all, I'll be thinking of you. It shouldn't be too late a day, however, and I'll hit here in the evening.

Have a fun day Lon and all! I have a couple of invites, but I will just stay home. This year I think I will have a Marie Calendars chicken with mashed potatoes and corn. Probably a fresh baked cherry pie from the bakery. I can't take crowds and all the noise anymore and I hate cooking, not fond of turkey, and I despise clean up. I always helped with the cooking and clean up. I hate a TV going at such gatherings, especially football.

We are just staying home, but we are getting the turkey today, and will get everything ready tomorrow for Thursday. Robin is going to come over and have Thanksgiving dinner with us, which she usually does when she is not working away from home that week.
I miss the big family get-togethers that we had when the kids were growing up and we had all sorts of family living nearby; but i don’t think that I would want all the work that goes into that large of a family Thanksgiving dinner anymore.
Ours is pretty laidback, just serve yourself and we sit around and eat and visit together. Since Bobby and I don’t even have a kitchen table, we just use the front room, which is the only place to sit at our house.
Even so, I like what Thanksgiving represents, and that it is a family tradition in this country.

I do remember during the 23 years I was single (divorced), there were Thanksgivings that I would have a Turkey TV Dinner. Had nobody to celebrate Thanksgiving with, so...…….

There were 26 family members with little ones in another room. Food was delicious.
