Good Morning! Well, currently at 9AM, it is 11 degrees, with a high of 23 today. The two plus feet of snow we got isn't going away in that temperature! It was sort of funny, to us, watching young folks, who live in the apartments close to ours, try to get their vehicle out. No All-Weather tires/ Snow Tires or 4-wheel drive/All-Wheel Drive on their small vehicles. Our Durango has 4-Wheel Drive Lock and All Weather tires. Guess there are those here that simply don't think "snow" type tires and 4-wheel drive is necessary UNTIL a snowstorm hits like the one we just had.
from Oz. America will celebrate one of your most enjoyed public holidays tomorrow. I was reading about the beginnings of Thanksgiving back in 1600s New England. In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. For more than two centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states. It wasn’t until 1863, in the midst of the Cival War, that President Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November.
Raining hard here as it has been all week. Tomorrow the sun is supposed to be returning...yeaahh!! ...and for all Americans, Happy Thanksgiving, and have a super day however you've chosen to spend it.
Good Morning all...we've woken up to Solid Ice everywhere, it's like a winter wonderland. and the sky is blue, so I'm hoping it won't take long to melt. My daughter is here from Spain for a very short visit.. she's out doing some business at the moment and then we're all going for lunch at an old village pub situated between here and London.. . she arrived yesterday and she flies back on Sunday morning.., and she has so much to see and do while she's here so we won't get to see much of her!
Thank you Micki...we had a wonderful day all of us out to dinner .... It's past midnight now.. she's asleep, she flies back to Spain tomorrow morning... ..but we had a great time, and we weighed her down with gifts and hope she hasn't gone over her luggage weight limit for the flight..
