Yes Ruby I feel older having missed a night had three cooked dinners en route, and now sat on a beach melting in 33c ( 92f ) while our hotel room is being cleaned. It's 11 am on Tuesday morning, feels like back to the future Have a good night/day or weekend, or wherever you are.
92 degrees and you're on the beach??? While we're all freezing our tushies off? It's 18 degrees right now in NC. I don't want to hear any complaining from you
Goodnight everyone...coming up to 10.30pm here and as usual I have a 5,30am start in the morning...enjoy your day and the rest of your evening..
Tough life...good tea, wonderful curry, fantastic birdlife, all sorts of other wildlife, gorgeous fruit, cashew nuts a penny a ton, cricket, sea. Unbridled misery, I should think. The only drawback is Sri Lankan beer. If only they had some decent beer...
Goodnight to you from from Negumbo it's 8:00 am and after a good nights sleep of some 12 hours I am more or less normal ( which equates to weird ) sadly Lisa has a headache and is feeling sick, which was probably due to too much sun and lost sleep yesterday. Yes Tom the curry we had last night was wonderful and the beer at least cold. I will try and find the stout they brew here which may be better. I am drinking lassi the fermented milk drink here which will hopefully act as a substitute for the Kefir I am missing from my diet. The view from the bedroom window Lisa relaxing before dinner The gorgeous Curry The garden at night
Great place to stay….the palms, well ALL the vegetation is so pretty and relaxing. Lisa is a little trooper, bless her heart; hope she's feeling better soon. Are you going to visit this scene, no not the tourists, the background shot of the ancient Sigiriya Rock Fortress. That should be the 8th wonder of the world.
There's a lovely lake by the fortress. We sat and watched a large fish eagle hunting there until it got fed up with being bombarded by lapwings. We also got divebombed by them when we walked round the lake. They nest on the ground and naturally resent the intrusion.
Like this Red-wattled Lapwing? It's beautiful! And the large Fish-Eagle below. What a wonderful memory.
Yes Lara funny you should mention Sigiriya we are going tomorrow morning, it's only a 20 minute tuk tuk ride from here, we will make an early start at 6:30 am to climb to the top before the heat of the day.
