My "problem" is that I don't make pots of coffee anymore. We got spoiled by a Keurig machine about 12 years ago and never looked back, so I buy k-cups. I have a couple of small inserts that I can put regular coffee into, but it always turns out so weak... blarg. I love good, stout coffee so most decaf just seems like beige water. :D

We have a K-cup machine upstairs, so when I am on my MacBook Pro upstairs, eating, or spending time with my wife upstairs, I'll have coffee from a K-cup. There are a lot of choices and I don't mind them but, after a while, I found K-cup coffees to be less satisfying that brewing a pot of coffee, which is what I do downstairs. I actually prefer coffee made in a percolator, and I have one, but that is more work than I want, sometimes.

There is a great deal of variance in k-cups for sure, and they are pretty expensive to experiment with. After a while we have settled on three favorites; McDonalds McCafe French roast, Community Coffee Signature Blend Dark Roast, and Costco Kirkland Pacific Bold. I am not a fan of any "light" or "medium" roast coffee, especially after living for a few years in Baton Rouge where spoons stand upright in a cup of coffee. :D

I also fill my thermos after filling our cups. Had a hot cup left over from the morning pot
With my half toasted bagel and cereal tonight.

I haven't totally enjoyed a cup for months now. You DO get somewhat used to less flavor. Bad coffee is better than no coffee at all. It is really an issue one wise coffee company should address. If they made a stronger tasting half-caff, they would make a fortune.

I was in a store earlier this week and noticed a gorgeous Bunn coffeemaker with a stainless thermal carafe on display. Hmmmmm, thought I. Maybe it's time to ditch the Keurig and return to the world of Bunn. For years we had Bunn coffeemakers and wouldn't consider any other type, but the convenience of the Keurig lured us away. So I may be putting that shiny new Bunn on my Christmas gift list. Bunns have a stainless heated water tank so they brew 10 cups in less than 4 minutes; the carafe would keep the coffee warm for hours.

Incidentally... Bunn coffeemakers are still Made in the USA!! That alone makes me want to buy one. :D

I moved a bunch of images and memes and stuff to another coffee thread, in the Make Me Laugh section. We were recently asked to close another coffee thread that was mostly images and memes, but then this one seemed to have become a continuation of the one that I just closed. I didn't mind that thread one bit, but we don't need to turn every thread about coffee into the same thing as every other thread about coffee. When two threads are the same, they should be merged but this thread has a lot of other stuff, like actual words about coffee preferences and so on, and I'd like to keep it that way, rather than every thread being a clone of every other thread.

Thanks, Ken. Sometimes I don't notice which thread I'm spamming when they are so similar. :D Sorry to cause you extra work.

We use Bunns, at least this is our second one, and they seem to last pretty good. I like them but sometime I think I'd like to have a percolator just for me, a small one.
How about that. Even artists love coffee.

I agree, Bill, about a percolator. I would like a non-electric one that I could use on the stove top or over a small hibachi grill, when the power is off.

I have an old Pyrex glass percolator that is our emergency backup when the power goes out. :D (Thank goodness for gas stoves.) I don't have any idea how old that percolator is, but it looks like this...

Video is over 6 minutes long, so fast forward past the ridiculous "spring water" and "set a timer" comments. No one I know ever set a timer; just watch the coffee till it's the color you want. :D

I love the smell of brewing coffee when I get up in the morning but am disappointed that it does not taste as good as it smells.

Well, I find that here it is better to make one's own which I often do. Then I can choose the roast I prefer. I love the French roast. Strong and perky.
