Actually, I rather like it if it is made with quality beef and fresh veggies. The right spices and herbs can make it quite tasty.

I actually would go without food regardless of what was put in it to make it taste any better...

It wasn't made right, Lon. That's the trouble with commercial food.

Beth, I think they cook it with Guiness Stout or Lager.

It is how I make it and everyone loves it. Depends on your tastes. Of course the alcohol cooks off and cannot be tasted at all. Same when one cooks with wine.

I have to agree with holly on MOST of the foods you take photos of

The photos you post look very much overcooked/ and NOT freshly cooked ,:(

if I was paying the $$$$$ you do I’d want freshly cooked appetising looking food

I completely agree, @Milla Jonas . While the presentation might be attractive, the food usually has that look of being made for a large group of people and not the look of a fresh-made meal . I am always so thankful that I can make my own food, and I can eat what I enjoy eating, and can use fresh ingredients.
Having worked at a school where I had to serve over 100 people for each meal, I totally understand that when you are making food in large quantities, there is not much of a way to cook it to please everyone, and as long as it is cooked so that the majority of the people enjoy it, that is about the best that you can do in that situation.
Adding the “gourmet presentation” probably helps, and it seems that they DO make the food just the way that @Lon Tanner prefers it; so that is the important thing.

beef stew is definitely not made with lager. Occasionally Guinness might go in or Stout but they tend to more often use ''Real Ale'' it's slightly acidic
