Well, I don't know, Bess. Wife and I have been to Macy's Department Store and didn't see any facial stuff. Same at Best Buy. Arm ones at Best Buy, but no facial stuff. Nothing at Sacks Fifth Avenue or any of the major sporting good stores. None of the theater employees have anything on their faces. I truly believe there are companies that won't hire a person, who insists on showing off their body art and/or piercings for certain positions, like a Executive Sales Rep. I seriously doubt if there will be a time when a salesclerk at Macy's will be hired who has facial tattoos and/or piercings. There are just stores that are too "high end" to do this. Could you just imagine a city transit bus driver or school bus driver with facial tattoos and/or piercings? I just can't see that happening.
I'm not sure if the generation after us Boomers will care since around 60% of them have tattoos. Interestingly, statistics show that within the new generation of adults (18-24) there has been a sharp DECLINE of tattoos. It all seems to go in trends. Through out the world, Italy and India have the highest percentage of tattooed people, with the US coming in at #3.
What pictures? Of our Christmas décor? Sorry, Holly, I only post pictures when I want to. Anyway, I like what Bess has said and want to continue with this thread. At least for a short while. Holly, I'm a very, very curious guy! There are a number of things I wonder about concerning todays Generation. Why they do what they do and look the way they look. I can't change anything, but that doesn't stop me from wondering. LOL
No Cody not of your Christmas decorations , a few posts ago you said you'd taken pictures of the new area where you live... don't you want us to see Loveland and the area where you live? believe me more people would be interested in that than Tattoos...
But, Bess, I'm not talking "in general" about tattoos, I'm talking about facial ones. The kind that can really freak out some folks. And, seeing someone with numerous piercings on their face and on their tongue. I don't see any Baby Boomers with facial tattoos and piercings all over their face.
Ok, Holly, if your really want to know...…..if we would've known that Loveland is the way it is, we would have NEVER moved here! In August 2018, we were here for only a week and didn't see much of how people looked. I had one Senior here tell me, "we now have more weirdness than when you visited here a year ago. This city has five tattoo parlors that also do body piercings and, for us Seniors, that has turned this city upside down. I've seen what my city has become and it's very unfortunate."
So, they started this whole crappy thing? Then again, none of the Seniors here, that we met, look like this. Thank God!!
I absolutely am on the side of people doing their own thing if it's not harming anyone else... but you know what, I can't help thinking that anyone who want to do this to their face has to have some kind of mental problem, .. I feel more sad for them than repulsed
Well, I just read an article about employment concerning all tattoos, including facial ones, as well as piercings. It stated that a 4-Star Hotel would not hire a desk clerk that has all of this, due to very public contact. OTOH, the same hotel could hire a dishwasher, with very little-to-no contact with the public, that would have all of it. Could any of you see, on any major airlines, as a passenger, an airline stewardess, pilot, co-pilot or navigational officer sporting facial tattoos and/or piercings? Be honest now. How about a PCP, RN or surgeon? How about a police officer? Yes, maybe arm, leg tattoos, but facial ones? Ok, I just named some careers that have strict dress codes against visible tattoos and piercings or any at all. Yes, there are companies that don't allow any of it and those where they have to be covered up at all times.
What I now wondering, Holly, is...…..why did your daughter get her tattoos? Her friends have them? What made her get her first tattoo? Our niece got her first one, due to peer pressure from other soldiers and (we guess) she liked the look, when she was in the Army. Before joining the Army, she was totally into horses (western show, that is) and nobody she knew had them or any piercings. When she was in grade school, she was in our wedding.
Another thing, Holly, those with tattoos and piercings love those people that are open-minded and "being on the side of those that do their own thing". They can look anyway they want to and not be criticized for it. Actually, I'm going to ask about tattoos and piercings in the other forum I'm now in. I don't see any young horse owners with any of either (tattoos or piercings). Just doesn't seem to go with the horse or livestock industry. And, don't see this at a livestock show at a Fair.
She got her first one way back in the 90's. I think it was the fashion from a member of a girl band. It was a tiny butterfly on her back. I was really upset about it but I thought , well at east it's covered. ... I really didn't think she'd get any more, but a few years later she was with her now ERX.. and he had a lot, so I think she felt she could have a few as well, and he wouldn't be turned off by it. ..now they've split up... but she just had another one on her back.!! What can I say?..she's almost 44 years old.. an otherwise intelligent woman. She wouldn't be stupid enough to have them on her face hands or neck and hopefully not her arms... ... but I wish she didn't have them at all.
Facial tattoos and/or facial piercings can make a really good look woman or man look pretty awful. It's sort of like seeing an absolutely beautiful woman smoking a cigarette...…...for some, "yuk". We don't like the entire tattoo and body piercing thing at all, but dislike even more the facial and neck tattoos and facial piercings. A pierced stud on the tongue is really weird looking, but very popular among Millennials. It's already been document that Millennials love this stuff and also love those that don't say anything about how they look.
