My daughter has a tongue piercing, belly button piercing and at one time she had 9 in her ears.. she''s let latter close up now, and she just wears one pair of earrings occasionally.

I';m making my dd seem like a weirdo here she's anything but, she looks perfectly normal to anyone who doesn't know she has tattoos.. unless she's wearing something back less or open toed sandals..

Your daughter isn't a weirdo, but there are those that would wonder (in their minds)……"why?"

A beautiful young lady, looking like a Model, looks great, until she picks up a cigarette and lights it. A heavy set woman can be wearing a tight swim suit and people can go, "yuk, why on earth are you wearing such a tight swimsuit?" There are those that don't like seeing really low-cut tops on women. In one way or another, it's all related.

It's all related if you are a narrow minded, judgemental type. Most of us live and let live.

@Beth Gallagher - you've got to admit though, 'hideous clothes' are hideous :p

Not all of us, Beth. Call it what you want, narrow minded or judgmental, but there are those that are both and won't admit it. That's just fact. I'm sure you've said something about some ones looks or what they've done, that others would take as either or both narrow minded or judgmental.

As far as the "live and let live" theory, that's exactly the feelings these young folks want to hear. That way they can look and do whatever they want...…...legal or illegal.

Here's the thing; it's THEIR life and has nothing whatsoever to do with YOU or your opinion. I'm sure they couldn't care less what you think.

And as others have said, the young people of today are no different than we were. Rebellious and believing old people are clueless. Which in many cases is spot on.

Beth, this can have a lot to do with folks that don't like seeing it. Unfortunately, the look is in a lot of places, but not all places. Of course they care what you think, because you defend them.
Now, if you watch Woodstock in 1969, you didn't see facial tattoos and facial piercings, so it was not a part of our generation. Many people blame the Millennial Generation for all of this and they may be right. If it's so popular, why aren't those young folks in horse shows sporting the look. Oh, that's right, it's a "big city" thing, but in the city we live in, it's a "small city" thing.

So, you'd tell every single Senior here that how they think is completely wrong. A confrontation would definitely happen, because they are pretty stout on their feelings about this and don't want to be called "narrow minded" or anything like that. "This wasn't your city, but it was ours and a very nice family city at that." Their city has been taken away from them, by what they call "weird o's".

And, the next fight with City Hall will be the implantation of a gay bar, strip bar and pride parade. But, then again, there not much for those folks to do here. LOL

I don't know why I bother with these threads. Basically just the same blather, time after time. My bad.

Funny, but you haven't made a reply to Ed Wilson's reply (first page) about my thread here. Guess picking on wife and I are fun to you. It's obvious, with Ed's reply that we aren't the only ones that think the way we do.

You folks have your feelings and we have ours. Don't try to change our feelings and we won't try and change your minds. That seems totally fair to me.

So (in other words) “live and let live” (don’t try to change our feelings and we won’t try to change your minds”) is what you are telling us.
Sounds fair to me, @Cody Fousnaugh .

What about facial piercings? No threads about that and that is, in part, what this thread is about. People who love messing up their face and then walking around in public and shocking many folks. That is just fact.

That's exactly what these young folks want to here, Yvonne. To them, that says "you look fine to me" and they love it. But, could you imagine if everyone in America had that attitude? Many think America is bad, in some ways, right now, but what would it be like if that phrase was in every ones mind. Everyone would be doing whatever they want and looking however they want. For some, that is fine, but not to everyone.

Yvonne, I still want to hear about Ed Wilson's reply on the first page. Nobody wants to reply to him????

NO ONE should give a good damn what people do to their bodies, least of all the government, :re: drugs. Instead of emphasizing old-fashioned clean-living and impressing it upon our young, our society has sunken more and more farther in to depravity over the years..............

What I'm also wondering is how todays young kids (thru high school age), will be like when they get older? The ones that are raised by couples loaded with tattoos, body and facial, and piercings. Many young folks end up smoking cigarettes and will say "may parent/parents smoked, so...….

But, then again, like already stated, there are young folks that wouldn't ever even think about getting any tattoos or piercings. Many think it looks very ugly and will say, "I can look/do better than that."
