This was my sister in monument Colorado Tuesday....they get bad drifts. Meanwhile Colorado Springs was dry. she is sick of it...going to sell. They get snow all the time.
Sort of funny, Chrissy, but, when we bought our house in Parker (2005), we talked to a auto mechanic that told us about a couple who had moved there from Palm Springs. They didn't even make it thru a full winter, before moving back to Palm Springs. They had been renting an apartment, broke the lease and moved. The mechanic told us "they told me there was no way they could stay here." And, here we are, in our early 70's and moved back here, but to northern Colorado this time. After 10 1/2 years in northeastern Florida, our first winter here hasn't been easy, but we are surviving. It's been over 10 1/2 years since I've taken snow off of a vehicle and never off of a boat (covered). Or, as I say, "have to endure the winters here in order to enjoy the nice Colorado summers".
Oh they love Colorado and won’t move from there...it’s just this open 5 acres they live on...only about 5 miles from the springs that gets the snow and wind...
This huge snowstorm, that they've been warning us about for days, put down a few inches of snow, possibly as much as six, but it took me all of about ten minutes to clear the drive and the sidewalk. It looks like it's stopped, now.
It's snowing pretty hard here right now, but it looks like we're mostly just going to get a lot of slop over the next few days, as temperatures hover around the freezing point.
We got about 2 inches last night. The "Alert" went off on our iPhones again last night about a snow squall, but wasn't enough wind to actually be a "squall". As I write this, all of the snow that was on our vehicle has melted off. I didn't have to take any off by hand. By this Saturday, the high temp will be 67. Oh how we like/love that. But, that temp won't be for long.
@Ken Anderson Do feel free to keep that snow crap in your part of the country, this is one instance that sharing is not mandatory. Lol. .
The most miserable five winters in my life were spent in the Detroit area. One hour of "oh, what beautiful white snow!" was followed by weeks of sloppy wet grey stuff that could defeat the most waterproof of boots.
It looks like northern Maine has a little more snow than we do. This is from a few days ago, near Presque Isle, Maine.
It's snowing pretty heavy here. We're supposed to get nine inches, which will mean maybe four. It's the last hurrah for winter, I think.
That's the key words, Ken...……"I think". With two more boat ramps opening on this coming Wednesday, April 1st, along with local state park lake ramps already open, anyone would think our winter is over...…...nope! In April of 2003, when we lived south of Denver then, a major snowstorm/blizzard hit. Then, on Mother's Day Weekend, we've seen a snowstorm hit as well. Funny as heck, but someone actually took a video of a boat pulling a water skier on a local lake and it was snowing.
