Just wanted to add a little hum(o)ur to the story, Craig. OK, let me go back a page and see where we are.
The strangest thing...… my daughter and a friend of hers both insisted that that actually happened to them. Her friend lived in a house that is supposedly haunted. They swore that they saw a lady in an old fashioned outfit on the stairs. They said she smiled at them then vanished into thin air. I put it down to overactive teenage imaginations but who knows..... Now let me see what I can add to our story....
demon. But it was getting daylight so they packed up their equipment and planned to redo the experiment the next night.
I have an open mind on such things. What prompts two teens to make a lady in period costume as their ghost.. unless they actually saw it. I believe they did. Otherwise just say we saw someone or something vanish.
She was about 13 - 14. Just the right age to see things that she expected to be there but weren't actually there.
I think I will continue on with the...……………… story...…. ????? Meanwhile they decided to call a meeting to discuss their next strategy.. The figured out that if the ghosts only came out at night, why not set up a bunch of cameras during the day so they can record any movement.. so they did exactly that with motion sensors on every camera... Great idea except ..……………………………………………..

We now know that there is something paranormal in this house and that we cant capture it on film or sensors. I feel the key to solving this mystery is the 'lady in white'..who she was in life and how and when she died.............
So we decided to investigate the history of the house. First we will ask the neighbors what they remember about it.
Yes you do that Shirley. We may have to go back even further than that even. I will take a look thru Boston county archives.
That afternoon the professor headed for the county archives office in nearby Avon where he spent three hours churning thru century- old newspapers and journals looking for the mysterious 'lady in white' that had found residence at the dilapidated but very full Marchmont Manor.......
...he discovered that the mansion was built in the 1850s by a certain Carlisle Marchmont a second generation of the wealthy Marchmont shipping family of Southampton, England. He built the home for himself and his bride Francesca who died mysteriously eight years into their marriage. Is our 'lady in white' Francesca Marchmont Dan mused...................
OK... I found out that the mysterious lady in white is actually Francesca.. Now, she also had a sister who lived with them but the sister died a few years later.. The sister took Francesca's white dress to wear and liked it.. Perhaps that is why we see a lady in a white dress.. They are coming back looking for the …………………………………………………..
