No Lois calling this the Chinese Flu is a conservative talking point for some reason...Even one of the presidents speeches had Corona Virus crossed out and Chinese Flu inserted. I have heard not a single progressive or neutral pundit refer to this as any thing but Corona 2020 or the like. Nothing more than an excuse to throw nationalism and politics into a non political situation. Why was the Spanish Flu called that when it was first recorded at Ft.Sill, propagated by a recruit from New Jersey? Every religious group in existence or extinct has been subject to some derision from someone since time began, for Christian to claim any unique discrimination is especially rich considering they are second only to the Muslims in sheer numbers
You are entitled to your opinion Because they choose not to take the flu vaccine in many cases. Actually, it isn't the flu itself that kills, but complications usually due to weakened immune systems for whatever reason.
Or because they did take the flu vaccine, or came into contact with someone who had just taken the flu vaccine or, as often occurs, the vaccine wasn't for the strain of the flu that came around that year. I don't want to get too far down the vaccine trail though, because that isn't what this thread is about. Most of those who have died from COVID-19 were also the sick and the elderly, with weakened immune systems too.
It is definitely looking even more like they are trying to impose on the right of people to gather and worship in a church. I can see that any kind of gathering can have a temporary ban, whether it is sports, religious, or even a wedding; but it looks like Mayor De Blaisio has taken it even further now. He has announced that if he sends police there to close up the church and the church leaders do not close up the church, that he can have the building basically condemned and close it down PERMANENTLY . I can’t see any way that he can enforce that, and if he does try to, then it is definitely going against our rights to worship as we choose. There will for sure be lawsuits if he tries to enforce that ruling. https://trendingpolitics.com/de-blasio-threatens-to-close-down-churches-permanently/
Yvonne, we have got the "right to worship" online/streaming. Isn't that better than possibly getting the virus at a church? We have absolutely no problem streaming a church service online. It is much, much safer.
IOW, folks, we must do these things or how many people will get the virus and possibly die???? One thing for sure, some of us on this forum have no problem following the Order, while others have to question it.
Uh-huh, and the Romans believed that the Christians needed to be persecuted for the good of the Empire.
In Romans, Chapter 13 we are told to submit to our Government. Yet in other parts of the Bible we are told to do what God wants us to do if we are ever put in the position of having to choose going against what God says by anyone or anything else. In the case of not assembling in a building called a church...because of valid reasons our Government is giving us....my opinion is that we obey our Government. They are not closing our church buildings forever...but trying to stop the spread of this virus. And with online worship going on, etc. we still can assemble...even if it is only one or two...or three, etc. at a time. If our Government would close our churches permanently and say we cannot gather together to worship permanently too...that's when obedience to our Government would cease and we would obey God.
We are told to give unto Caesar that which is Caesar's but not everything is Caesar's, and I think a pretty good argument could be made for meeting together as a church being something that isn't Caesar's. The church is the people coming together, after all, and there's no evidence that the early Christian church obeyed the dictates of Rome when it came to their meeting together as a church. They may have hidden from the government at time but, at other times, they openly defied the government.
Romans 13: 1-7 starts out this way: "Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God and those who resist will bring judgement on themselves... Verses 6 and 7 talk about paying taxes but the first verses show we are to obey what our Government tells us.
If the Early Church viewed it that way, there would be no such thing as Christianity. Even today, Christianity is illegal in some countries. Should Christians subject themselves to the local authorities and become atheists or Muslims?
