If I have "Ring of Fire" stuck in my head because of this, you're gonna need those guns. That song has been my life-long earworm. It makes me wish for tinnitus.
One of my favorite movies is Walk the Line, with Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash. I thought he did a pretty good job. Wildwood Flower was one of my mother's favorite songs. Reese Witherspoon did a fair job of it, as June Carter Cash in the movie.
This is the closest thing I could find to a thread devoted to Johnny Cash, so it looks like a good place to mention the time Nixon tried to recruit Cash as a political pawn in support of his war-friendly agenda. But, as we all remember, Cash did not comply! He sang instead a song of his own choosing, and in accordance with his own heart. Which to me sounds a bit on the liberal side.
Ooops! Upon further rummaging around, I see that this was the song Cash sang on that particular White House visit.
