I don't eat steak very often, but I grilled a sirloin just the other night. Had sauteed mushrooms and a fried egg on top, plus salad & sides.

I saved half of it and made a mushroom gravy last night, cut up the sirloin & warmed it in the gravy and served over rice, plus salad & sides.

Sometimes you just gotta have red meat.

Looks like they're treating you OK there, Lon.

Well, Lon pays enough for the food/care he gets.

I could have more if I wanted. With the big lunch I had this was sufficient.

Yeh, I was thinking that at those prices, his meals better be served with someone wearing rabbit ears and a cotton tail.

Of course, there are other requirements...

You just had fish & chips for lunch!!!

What happened...an extra-high tide, or did Uncle Murray's boat run aground? ;)

    Actually, that looks pretty good.

I never cook pasta without putting a red sauce on it. I got some shrimp in the freezer...I'll have to try that.

I didn't know that. I had a friend with gout and I know he watched his diet pretty carefully. I'm sorry you're suffering from it.

There was a Greek 24 hour diner where I used to live. Had been there for many many years. Every once in a while they would have linguine in a red clam sauce, with in-the-shell clams. Man, was it good!!!

I don't eat much pasta without red sauce...sometimes I do an Alfredo. I put the stuff for scampi ingredients (parsley & shallots) on my shopping list!

That's not a bad idea, Lon. I've toyed with the idea of making my own pasta. It's one of the few things I've not tried cooking. I keep looking for the attachment for my stand mixer, but they ain't cheap. The full set is over $150. It just seems to be a waste for something I only eat every week or two.

If I did that, I would be more inclined to keep the toppings simple. I mentioned elsewhere that I have an Italian cookbook that has pizza recipes without any sauce on them...it's all about the quality crust.

I just never think to boil pasta and toss it in olive oil as an alternative to a heavy main or side dish. I'll have to add it to my rotation.

One of the few meals I left on my plate at a restaurant without eating (probably 3 in my whole life, including 1 chipped beef on toast) was shrimp scampi. It was absolutely loaded with garlic. I believe one could make it so it was good if you leave out the garlic.
