Little suppertime story. Many years ago as a very young wife I read a story about a man whose wife always made the same foods, especially at suppertime. He was sick roast of Sunday and pork chop Wednesday . Always knew what he would have before he came from work. I thought how utterly boring and lack of imagination on her.My guess is that was not all that was boring between them I decided I would never do b that . I try to come up with something different every time. One week I try and buy healthier things..next two weeks I buy not the healthiest maybe but something good. I like variety and choices
Yeh, it's just me. It's kind of frustrating because I like cooking different things, but it's just me consuming what I've made. On the flip side, I make extensive use of my vacuum sealer, and never have to plan a meal (unless I need a fresh veggie like bell peppers.) I can't tell you the variety of meals I've got made & frozen. I have 3 meals in the freezer from those pizzas I made the other day. There's a couple of servings of shrimp scampi I just put in there. I made & froze 6 servings of homemade marinara today. When I get that pasta maker, I'll have a big batch of homemade ravioli to go with it. I can also thaw raw steak/chicken/fish in no time flat by putting them in a big bowl of water. Vacuum sealed=water tight. I can pretty much make whatever strikes my fancy that evening. My bottom freezer and chest freezer are nearly full. I must have lived through the Depression in a prior life
Just to keep blathering from my prior diatribe...I'm the same way regarding variety. I do not like having the same dinner 2 nights in a row. I had leftover catfish last night from the prior evening's dinner...that's rare I will do that. If I had beef for lunch, I won't eat it again at dinner, even in a different dish.
Well don't over do like my father in law did. He cooked all that but rarley ate it. It was a Bitch cleaning out his foolr freezer and two fridges of stuff from the previous 10 years! I kid you not.
I'll try. But I'm not promising nuthin' I fill any available space up as fast as I clear it out. But it's [almost] all fresh.
We had homemade cheeseburgers (pepper jack cheese), baked beans and fries. I don't like having the same thing, either. I have finally learned how to cook just enough for a meal without leftovers because I know we won't eat them. Occasionally I put soup or chili in the freezer but not often.
I use anchovies sparingly when I make sauces. So how many are we talking on the pizza? One or two chopped up so you get a bit here & there, or as many as, say, there are pieces of pepperoni? I might try them, just to see if I've outgrown the dislike.
Wow!! I'm glad I asked. I just looked it up. "Florentine" means any dish paired with spinach. I had no idea. I imagine it's as good as it looks. You sure get a lot of seafood. I just had some of that leftover scampi you inspired. There's nothing better than stuff from the ocean.
Excellent cut roast beef slow cooked in crock pot, with Lipton beef onion soup mix and minced garlic..baby carrots. Mashed potatoes and green beans..um maybe a tad of left over salad.
