I think that you are probably right, @Dwight Ward . Since they were standing out there with unloaded weapons, they obviously had NO intention of hurting anyone, and hoped that they could scare the rioters off until the police could get there.
They had been seeing the rioters burning and looting their city for the last few days, and had every reason to think that the angry and violent mob would target them next. Apparently, the rioters were also yelling threats at the McCluskeys, and when the police could not get there, they tried to scare the mob away.
There is no way to know what would have happened if the McCluskys had not gone out with their weapons. The rioters might have vandalized or torched their house, or they might have gone on down the street.
I think that since one of the state congressmen was marching with the rioters, this is part of the reason that they are trying to make the mob look innocent.

Peter Renfro, that most certainly is their property. It is a private street owned by the people who live on it. They pay separately for its maintenance and extra taxes as well. There are many communities these days where our millionaires live on private, gated streets with their own keys to the gate in order to gain entrance. They aim to keep the riff raff out and pay big bucks to do so. Other people build walls around their homes, it just depends on one's particular taste I guess.

Do you have a source of information that I don't? The residents don't normally own deeded right to common areas in an HOA, which is what this is. I am sure that they have a deed to their house, but the HOA Corporation owns the common areas.
And at any rate, simple trespass is not a capitol crime, and even if you want to throw destruction of property on top of it, it still does not rise to the level where deadly force would be a legitimate answer. Castle Doctrine is not an excuse for assault with a deadly weapon.
If you can find me a reference that they hold deed,or own in partnership the neighborhood as opposed to being homeowner belonging to an HOA I will slink quietly into the night like the yellow bellied white trash riff raff you believe me to be.

You didn’t get the news Pete?
Slink or not, it really doesn’t make any difference what you may think because the AG dropped the charges.
I guess he knows Missouri law better than thou.

That's probably why they were holding their weapons and not firing on the crowd, don't you think? There was no deadly force. Private property is private property, regardless of who owns it, and they were trespassing.

I was in Portland for a few days in 1972, having won my college's straight pool competition. There were about 25 other schools competing there. I came in about 15th as I remember. Of all the American cities I've ever seen, and I've been through several in my travels, Portland was the cleanest, best laid out, safest feeling of them all. I hope it can remain so.,

A while back , these NFAC guys were marching near Stone Mountain in Georgia, and stopping traffic. they were all dressing black, and all carried rifles and other weapons.
Now, they are marching around in a children’s playground, and totally armed.
    This is CRAZY !
Someone is going to get killed with this kind of stuff going on, and probably it will be some innocent person. People should not have to be afraid to take their little kids to a playground.

It looks to me like they're taking poses to simulate the plastic army men that boys used to play with back when boys were still allowed to be boys.

I had hundreds - soldiers, cowboys, Indians,.. pretend war was fun. I wonder now if that was what I was trained to believe. "Paranoia strikes deep. Into your life it will creep."

NFAC may be partly a spoof by patriot groups. I'm seeing strange stuff on Facebook, including one group (VLC) who seem to be doing that. It's hard to tell what's what.

Anderson Cooper announces another peaceful protest march. Seriously, if this bunch was marching down my street, I would not think that they were happy peaceful people . They definitely look more like the typical BLM Biden supporter than our patriots in the Trump parades !
