We haven't had much snow this winter and we certainly need much more snow in our village.. Snow brings in tons of money to our village.. Been too quiet so far, mind you we did have a few storms which is good, but more would be even better..... We are now into a cold spell which is way too late but still appreciated.. Cold is very important for our village as well.. It also brings in the $$$$$$$$.....
Hi folks....not really awol ...just too tired to post, been a loooong hard week ..thanks for missing me

"Extreme Cold Warning The coldest wind chill values will be between minus 40 and minus 45. Extreme cold." Wow, Steve , best to stay inside and just hunker down in front of your computer..lol..what kind of heat do you have? , if I may ask? wood? I like wood heat. sometimes it can get so hot in the house , you have to open the doors.! been there. done that when we lived in Maine. By the way ..the 2 links on your last post are the same.. lol . Not sure you meant that to be..
Our house is heated by, Downstairs (main floor) electric forced hot air and an electric fireplace.. Upstairs (bedrooms) electric baseboard.. The basement is crawl space only and it too is heated by the forced hot air furnace which keeps the floors warm.. NO wood burning..... Our house is really warm.. Really thick walls with lots of insulation.. Our house is an "A" Frame house which is a bit different.... My car is plugged in (block heater) and will remain that way till the cold snap is over.. It is in our carport and out of the wind..
I just changed the site from a few posts ago that I accidently duplicated.. Please go and check it out..
I love those A-frames, Steve, my sister lived in one once and it was lovely. Sounds like your all set for any cold spell that comes your way.. We have a heat pump plus a fireplace which can be used to burn wood.. which we do not burn wood. here , we use a gas burner fake wood set inside our fireplace.. it can get cold here but it only lasts a few days and we are plenty warm with the heat pump and the gas fireplace if we need it.. Most of the homes in the south use heat pumps. it gives us heat in the winter and a/c in the summer..
Air conditioning is something up here that isn't used very often.. We have a window unit in the living room that I install in mid May but we only use it about 2 or 3 times a summer.. I remove it around Labour Day as the heat is all over..... Unfortunately gas isn't available up here, so many folks use propane for their gas fireplace and gas stove.. Personally, I have electric and am happy with it.. We actually have a house without a chimney as we don't need one... Upstairs (the bedrooms) the ceiling is the roof which means the ceiling is on a slant.. We banged our heads many times in the beginning till we got used to it..
I have to laugh at that ,Steve, When we lived in Maine we had a slanted roof upstairs in our bedroom too and did the same dang thing. . til I finally moved the bed over more toward the peak so we both didn't have headaches in the mornings anymore..
Kate... Totally confusing to me, but if you say so, then let it be that.................. Now that we are on the questioning I would like to ask everyone...... WHY ???? Do we park in the driveway ....... and ....... Drive on the parkway .... ?????????
I deleted post Steve , as it may become confusing for some .. I was just commenting on how different we can be state to state in Australia ..after posting something in Far away places
