I suppose I could just get a laptop and watch TV at the same time, but I spend too much time on the computer as it is. I don't need one to follow me all over the house.

The powers that be won't allow me to make a decision, even when I finally do. I pulled the trigger and ordered the rugs for the hallway, after agonizing over the pattern, shape, and size. I had finally made the "perfect" decision. :)

    Just got an email from the company saying they are forcing me to look at a sample first. What does that mean? I guess they are afraid I might change my mind. {Sigh}

I already decided if I didn't like them I could always use them in the kitchen anyway.

    (11/2/2020) Monday

Lately when you hit the accelerator on the truck, nothing happens. Then it slowly creeps up to speed. I read it could be the air filter. My father (from whom I inherited this truck) was never a big fan of changing air filters frequently. When I left home I remember his advice: "Don't let anyone talk you into a new air filter." :D

So I never worried about them. I wanted an OEM replacement. The auto parts places only had store brands in stock. Some of the reviews were not good.

Took a "circuitous" route to the farm, because it passes near a little rural town which has a Ford dealer. Thought I'd take a look at what they had, and try to remain anonymous. They didn't have a single 2021 truck there either! . At least I got a look at their colors. :p

I'm not superstitious, but usually when things are right, everything goes smoothly. There is so much conflicting information about these mysterious vehicles that no one has actually seen in person. I read some have been spotted in the outback in Australia.

If I ever get COVID-19 it will be from this encounter. I parked in a obscure place, was going to try to sneak around the lot and just look, and forgot to wear the mask. A salesman jumped me first thing and insisted on escorting me to the parts department. There must have been a dozen employees I encountered, not one wearing a mask.

The price of the air filter was the same as the store brands, and they even installed it on the spot for free. Old filter reminds me a little of chocolate cake. The paper was brittle. I have a feeling it is the original, unless someone changed it without asking me. If so, it lasted 24 years, but not changing it may have cut some years off the engine life. ;)

It appears to have fixed the problem. Now the thump/jerk is back when you accelerate quickly. I want this thing to last until after Christmas now.

    (11/2/2020, continued)

The top blew out of the dead pine tree that got struck by lightning, and landed in the front yard. That's how I hoped it would come down---gradually, from the top down. If it falls toward the road now, I don't think it will reach. Cleaned that up.

Just before I left, after dark, the smell of cheap coffee started to creep into the house. The skunk must have been nearby.

Cabin roof from the hill on the back side. This side of the roof is approximately 35 years old and rarely gets sun, so the morning dew doesn't dry off quickly and it is rusted. I don't see any holes, but haven't got a ladder out there yet to look closely.

A close up shows spots. Could be just rain drops. Could also be sap that dripped down from a gum tree. (If so, I wish I had 5 gallons of that sap.)

I looked up how to coat/paint a metal roof. To do it right would be almost impossible because it recommends sanding off all the rust and then washing it. There is no running water out there. I'm willing to use a wire brush, do a little sanding, and wiping, but no washing.

I wonder if coating it without a perfect sanding job, and not washing it off, would extend the life much (to last, say 10 years). Or would it make it worse?

A good inspection for flaked rust areas. Wire brush it and wipe of excess. That's what I would do before I would paint my grill.

That's what I was hoping someone would say. The only thing better would be to say just leave it alone. LOL

Anyway, I'm not going to jump right on this. Maybe a storm will come in the meantime and blow it all off, or a tree will fall on it, and save me all that extra work. ;)

I love the shot of the cabin. I get into this phase where I see photos that would make great puzzles.:D

Von, do you like jigsaw puzzles?

It would be a good puzzle. Not too hard, not too easy.

My mother, grandmother, and I liked jigsaw puzzles. When my grandmother came to visit for a few days we would bring one out. The hardest ones would stay on a table in the living room, and every time one of us would pass by we'd stop and find a piece. I probably wouldn't have the patience now.

On the other hand, I wasted over 18 hours so far on this 90 part multi-griddler puzzle (81,000 pixels). Still have 6 parts to go. I'm getting tired of it.

I love to do puzzles. They can be frustrating sometimes but I never give up on them unless I've lost pieces that take away from the picture and then you're already done when you find that out.

My mom had so many boxes of puzzles, I thought about giving them to the local senior center. When I asked if they would be interested they said jigsaw puzzles were very popular, but they already had more puzzles than they could find a place to store them. I wonder if young people ever try them? I still see them in the stores.

I just saw some advertisements online where you can send a photo and you can get a puzzle made from it. That would be cool.

But... so many puzzles... so little time. :p

Yes, and then you would go searching around the floor to see if it fell off the table.
