I worked for a small business where the woman started in her basement making removable/washable covers for children's car seats. She began selling through the Toys R Us catalog and Service Merchandise when the children's car seat laws were first enacted. She expanded the line into other kid's textiles (bassinet sets, wall hangings) and was doing about $600,000/month when I worked there. In those days, getting in such catalogs was the equivalent of being listed on Amazon.

Since I purchased that blowtorch attachment and will be using it in the kitchen, I figured I'd be well advised to buy one of these stands:

It's one thing for a hot torch to fall over in a dirt crawlspace, it's quite another to be having it inside the house.

I ordered it though EBay. Makes no sense that neither Lowes nor Home Depot have these.

If these things arrive on schedule, they will be the best delivery times I've received in a while. I don't know about the faucet covers, though. They are supposed to arrive on Tuesday but they haven't even been shipped yet. I have a circular saw somewhere but either a workman walked off with it, which seems to happen from time to time, or I have misplaced it, but it's kind of hard to misplace a circular saw. If it's still here, I'll come across it eventually. Meanwhile, I can use a cordless one, particularly one that takes the same batteries as my recipricol saw and drill. I bought the camera just because I had a $50 gift certificate from YouGov so it was free.

    Ooohhh...game cams!!!

And I like those faucet socks. I've never seen those. I've had something like this for 10 years and was just thinking of replacing them:

There's gotta be some elasticity in the pull string or it won't pull up against the house. The elements have finally stiffened them up. I use these because they pull up tight against the siding, encapsulating the entire faucet assembly.

I have a bunch of them (game cameras). I use them in my woods up north to check up on the critters that roam the woods, and I have a few of them setup in my yard so that I know what comes around there when I'm not looking, sometimes human, sometimes animal. I don't plan on letting the cats out again, at least not until spring, but last winter a fisher cat raised a couple of babies in the shed of the vacant house next door to me, and we've had a fox in our yard every few mornings, early, from 3:00 to 5:00 am, probably following the abandoned railroad track. These are things that are nice to know when you have cats. Plus, I am ocassionally feeding a few stray or feral cats whenever I have food that Ella and Bubba won't eat. Sometimes these stray cats look suspiciously like raccoons or skunks, though.

Last winter came upon us suddenly and didn't leave until nearly summer, so I wasn't even able to unhook my outdoor water hose. As a consequence, my outdoor water faucet broke and had to be replaced in the spring. This year, I have unhooked the hose and will be covering the faucet. Usually, I just used some foam held in place with duct tape. This looks like it might be more civilized.

I have perhaps 6 game cams, but have not had them set up for a while.

I caught an errant hunter once walking by my house into my property, then sometime later came back with his retrieved dog. The law here allows for that, but he's not supposed to have his gun with him (this prevents them from trespass-hunting but claiming they were going after Fido.) I didn't get a shot of his face.

Regarding those early morning fox: when I first moved here I used to get up around 4AM and spend a couple of hours sitting on my deck just drinking coffee and kicking back before work. I'd even do this in the winter. That was the time of day the fox would walk right by my deck, yapping their heads off for their buddies. Haven't seen (or heard) them in a while, but they do have a den behind my neighbor's house.

Ordered 5 boxes of 20 gauge #3 buckshot. Stuff is impossible to find. Bird shot is readily available, slugs usually can be found, but buckshot is scarce.
Even the big ammo distributers show out of stock. Found it by chance at "The Exchange". Exchange is the online version of the military PX. Rules were changed several years ago so that any veteran may use the online store, and it is tax free!

I buy so many spices online that are not available in the local stores.
Sweet Hungarian Paprika is one of them.

This was my most recent version:

I didn't really buy this online, but I'm getting ready to buy 4 more online because Walmart only had 1 in stock.
I'm posting a long comment because some folks here might want to buy some of these as safety items.

It's a combination Emergency Power Outage Light, Night Light, Flashlight, and Table Top Light for $9.99
It plugs into an outlet just as any night light would.

    Link to Walmart site.

I want emergency lights that come on when the power goes out so I don't have to scramble in the dark, and so I don't have lit candles in various rooms. And I want one that I can choose to disable the Night Light and retain the Emergency Light feature....I like it dark when I sleep.

-This contains a rechargeable non-replaceable battery so that the Emergency Light comes on when the power goes out.
-This model allows you to turn off the Night Light function and still retain the Emergency Light function.
-The Emergency Light comes on Low when the power goes out (or if you unplug it), and can be set to High if desired.
-If you enable the Night Light, it will automatically turn on/off at dusk/dawn, with a bright/dim option.
-There are (2) high-beam lights in the top to use it as an always-charged flashlight.
-The unit can be unplugged and sat upright on a tabletop to provide light where you are.

The slight downside is that the Emergency Light function is not tied into the light sensor; that is, if the power goes out in broad daylight, the Emergency Light will come on. Some folks commented that their battery lasted for days-long outages (and the battery recharges when power is back), while the manufacturer claims a 7 hour battery life.

I rolled the dice on this one because it's impossible to tell from the website descriptions for these types of lights if you can enable the Emergency Light without having the Night Light turned on. The folks at Lowes looked at their database and could not tell. I called JASCO (the OEM for GE and a bunch of other brands), and they could not tell...they directed me to their website descriptions. I grabbed this one to try out and it does what I want.
