I've read to control strength with quantity, and to control flavor (sour<>bitter) with grind.

Yes. I can combine coffee grinding and upper-body workout all in one.

There's a "grind" joke in there...

I have a burr grinder, so you guys really have to keep up. I do have to crank my burr grinder but I like it that way.

Here is the maximum grind size I can get out of the Cuisinart.

That's a nickle in the middle...it seems to be the standard frame of reference.

Not quite as chunky as you can get, Ken.

    So now I'm worried.

I went my McDonald's today to get a cup of coffee to reset my frame of reference. It was weak and had an off-taste.

All other foods taste fine to me. I'd better not be losing my coffee receptors.

With your recent health issues, did you start taking any new medication? Sometimes that can have weird side-effects. Not sure "makes coffee taste weird" appears in any cautionary notice, but you never know.

    Good point.

I actually scoured the web for that very thing last night and found nothing. I started Flowmax at the end of September and began doubling up less than a week ago. My coffee problems began the 1st of this month when I started playing with the Bonavita. Apparently beta blockers can cause a problem with taste, but Flowmax is an alpha blocker. I'm thinking it was just a bad batch of McDonald's coffee. It really tasted weak.

On the other hand, a search on "Coffee suddenly tastes bad to me" has found some threads where lots of others have experienced the same thing. They've cleaned their machines, tried different brands, etc. Nothing worked. No solution was found. There had been no changes in their lives that may have caused this. Some noticed it on the job where everyone else said "Tastes the same to me." A few said "It eventually got better on its own." Strange, huh?

    Yahoo Answers
    Reddit

WebMD says "In some people, a change in taste or smell can be an early sign of Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s." Everything else tastes fine to me.

I'll try again when I'm out next. Maybe I'll stop by IHOP.

You realize that changes in taste/smell are also symptoms of Covid? :p
