Ugh, heep big snow? Heep small snow ? No snow ? Remembering a few years ago, when someone in the NW USA , or Alaska, was packaging SNOW, frozen of course, and selling it to people across the midwest/ south/ etc who missed the snow and had not had any snow for many months or years.
Our last storm was referred to as a blizzard. Since I wasn't trying to drive in it, I don't know how accurate of a description that might have been but the wind sounded scary. The end result was not a whole lot of snow, however, and the wind blew it around into drifts which, fortunately, don't include most of my driveway.
We had a dozen flakes Monday. That's all the weather media talked about all day. It must have been early in the morning because I missed the snowstorm.
LOL. I used to spend the summers at my grandma's ranch in southern Patagonia...even then we had snow there. The ranch was several kilometers from Los Andes but we could see the mountains from our windows.
Are you saying that even the weather is being called a pandemic now, @Silvia Benoit ? they will stop at nothing to pound that word into people’s heads !
Reminds me of driving by one of those portable warning signs once like this one: Someone hacked into it and changed the warning to ZOMBIE ALERT!!! Cracked me up.
We're getting our first taste of winter early tomorrow into the rest of the day. Snow/wintry mix (why does that sound like a Brach's candy?) changing to all rain later in the day (when it hits 34°F.) But I'm in the central part of Virginia, not too far from the mountains to the west of me. It's gonna be worse out that way. And it's really going to suck 100 miles up north in the DC area, where it's gonna start as snow and then change over to sleet/freezing rain. It doesn't take much to send the traffic there into a tailspin.
It's been sleeting here since early this morning. Was supposed to turn to rain by now, but [at ground level] it's 31.6°F. All my trees look like ice sculptures. It's been so cold lately that the ice is gonna stick right to the roads. My part of the county is not on the top of the list for road treatment (not that we got a lot of resources elsewhere.) Points west and north are really getting hit hard...and the north has lots of humans. And lots of cars.
