Review comments never disappoint. :D One youtube video shows that woman using a shop vac to clean out a grinder... sheesh. I was thinking about compressed air (like a keyboard cleaner) but I wonder if that might force "finds" into the motor compartment. So many ridiculous details to obsess about! Who knew??

Speaking of deliveries... I got my little thermal carafe this morning and it is so cute! It will hold plenty of coffee, but it won't fit in my Bunn. :( Oh, well, whatever.

I have an instant hot water dispenser on my sink that dispenses 165-170 degree water, so I filled the carafe at 1 pm and took the water temp with my thermapen. I'm going to check it at 3 pm and again at 5 pm and see how effective it is. The excitement never ends around here. :D

    Amazing, isn't it?

I have a dial micrometer I use to measure my eyeglass frames so I can order clip-on sunglasses.

    We are so spoiled.

The post office must be slammed. I've got 8 packages in transit through them, and nearly every one has missed their delivery date...some by a lot.

My Shenandoah Joe's roaster coffee did not arrive...still "In Transit." But they give themselves until 9PM.

The keyboard is OK...the scroll direction on the Touch Pad is reversed and the Switch Directions options does not.
I also got some Don Francisco's coffee from Amazon. Still not a good cup of coffee, but after dialing in the 3rd pot, it's not as horrible..

I don't think spoiled is quite the word for us, but whatev. :D:D

In my typical fashion, I totally forgot to check the temp at 3 pm, but I was only 30 minutes late. The water had gone from 165 to 148 in 2.5 hours, but a nice little puff of steam escaped when I opened the lid. I need to go check it again at the risk of getting the side-eye from my husband. o_O You'd think he'd be used to me by now; we've been together over 30 years.

Yeah, all the carriers are slammed. This is a record-breaking year for online ordering but somehow Amazon manages to keep up.

Did you check the settings for your keyboard in Windows device manager? I always disable the touch pad because I prefer a mouse.

    Take his temp. ;)

Actually, that sounds like a good thermos. The Bonavita carafe leaves something to be desired. Even preheating it doesn't work that well...the second cup is lukewarm.

I like a splash of half-and-half in my coffee (maybe 1/2 tablespoon), so that cools down the coffee. I don't like lukewarm so the microwave is my friend. I'll go check in 15 minutes or so, just to see results at the 5 hour mark. That's probably much longer than coffee will ever stay in there.

There is a setting to Reverse Scroll Direction there. It does nothing. I was able to slow down the cursor speed in that screen, so I know it controls the wireless keyboard. If I'm sitting at a desk, I always prefer trackballs. They have a minimal footprint and you never have to pick them up and move them over to cover enough real estate. Sitting on my couch, the combo Keyboard/Touchpad works best, second to the thumball.

I am replacing a Logitech model I have used for many years. It was my 3rd or 4th one. The newer version stinks. Others have commented on it.

And this one has directions saying if you like the product, "Enjoy the fun from your new mate." Logitech never cared that much.

I prefer trackballs but I don't mind a regular mouse. I just really hate typing and having the cursor jump all around the screen if the touch pad is activated.

And I drink coffee all the while. :D

OK, the results are in on the thermal carafe. It's actually not bad. Started out at 165 degrees at 1 pm, then 148 degrees at 3:30, and just checked it at 136 degrees at 6:15. So that's a little over 5 hours and I'm thinking the coffee would still be drinkable.

So I got my first delivery of locally roasted coffee.
I have 3 different roasts, and tried 2 of them, making 2 pots of each at different quantities and different grinds.
    It is horrible coffee.

The coffee I ordered from the guy on CoffeeForums is due to arrive tomorrow. I'll work with him on this, but I suspect that by Monday morning, I'll be requesting a return on the Bonavita.

The question then is what to try next, if anything.

This is stupid. I've had weak coffee and I've had strong coffee, but I've never made pot after pot after pot of such abjectly rancid coffee. I've never been so frustrated and disappointed.

I guess I still need to go out and try a cup of restaurant coffee before sending this thing back.

Well, that blows. Did you sample the coffees as pour-over or from the MrCoffee as well as the Bonavita? Maybe you should pick up one of those one-cup pour-over things to sample coffee instead of making full pots.

I think my coffee from my son is coming today; I got UPS notification of a package coming. And we finished the open can of McCafe French Roast so now I can finally open the Columbian that @Bobby Cole likes and give it a try.

If you have it with a nice warm brownie covered in sliced bananas and custard topping, it’s even better!!

I've done pour-over using my Mr. Coffee setup. I could do it with the Bonavita, since that's all it really is...the basket sits directly on the carafe, and when the brew cycle is finished, you remove the basket and screw on the carafe lid. I made the coffee in the Mr. Coffee and it sucks from there as well.

I need to go out and try restaurant coffee again to remove "me" from the equation. I wonder if my initial Bonavita experience has screwed over my coffee receptors.
