OK, let's have it - what's on your bucket list?

For me, I actually started one before the concept had a name - back in the 70s when I was just getting out of high school, I started thinking of all the things I wanted to do since I was now AN ADULT! Some, I've already done like -

    1. Skydive
    2. Scuba dive
    3. Para-sail
    4. Drive a fast drag car

    Still on my list -

    1. Sail the Intracoastal Waterway, from the Chesapeake Bay to Key West
    2. See the Northern Lights
    3. See the Grand Canyon
    4. Through hike the entire Appalachian Trail
    5. Take a European River cruise
    6. Run a triathlon (a little one, not the Ironman)
    7. Write a book
    8. Zip line somewhere interesting
    9. Bungee jump off the New River Gorge bridge
    10. Be a grandmother!!!!!!

That's all I can think of right now. I'm sure there will be more to come.

Give me a call when you get to the end of it. I live in Millinocket, the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail.

That'd be great, do you think you could pick me up?? I might need a good, hot shower after 8 months of hiking.

I had a 1984 Mustang Grande with a 351 Cleveland engine, I wanted to see how fast it would go, I was living in California at the time taking a trip to Reno. I decided to see just how fast I could go on the straight of way. I hit 120 and some, the police officer that chased me said he had been following me for some time and probably would now thave caught me had I not stopped.

Drive a fast drag car, my idea of fun.

I never made a bucket list but I have achieved almost all of my early wishes and I'm still living what I used to dream about. Some of my aspirations took more than 3 decades to happen, so I don't want to make a new list of things now that I might not live long enough to do.

My parents achieved a lot in their lifetimes, and they would have done much more had they lived beyond retirement age. I do have my own plans for an exciting retirement, but I don't know how much time I have left and I don't want to leave anything until it's too late, when I could be doing it now.

My concern has always been to be on my last leg and saying no not yet I haven't done this, that or what ever. Live with no regrets.

At my age, I have given up the bucket for a cup! LOL, actually, I have done most of the things I have wanted to but now I am down to more travel. For three years I have wanted to make the trip to Cambodia to see the Angor Wat ruins but have for one reason or other had to postpone it. So this year, I plan to do it for sure.

I've always loved cars and speed. My first new car was a 1979 Firebird. I lived in the DC area at the time, and the beltway was newly constructed. We used to see how fast we could drive around the entire beltway. If I'm not mistaken the speedometer went to 100, and there were many times I had it pegged, and was still accelerating.

In the 90s, my husband and I bought a 1/8 mile drag strip. One of the guys had this really cool rigid frame, front engine hot rod. He told me he called it a '40 Ford, but I could call it whatever I wanted. Anyway, I bought it from him and had a blast with it. It wasn't really fast, it ran the 1/8 mile in about 7 seconds, but being a rigid frame, it was exciting to drive - it was like driving a basketball.

We also bought my son a junior dragster. These are scaled models of a top fuel dragster, which use 5 hp Briggs and Stratton engines. However, they are tweaked and modified so that some will put out over 25 hp. When we first bought his, I decided to "test" it out first, to make sure everything was working properly. It went from 0-85 mph in about 8 seconds. Also, being only about 3 inches off the ground, it felt like I was flying. Of course, one shake-down run wasn't enough, I had to make another 4 or 5 runs before I decided it was safe. ;)

It was pretty cool finding this post tonight. It was like you took the thoughts right out of my head. As I drove home tonight from work I was crossing the bridge that I work on. I have wrote about it before on here but for those have not read that I work on the Mackinac Bridge, it is nearly 5 miles long, has huge towers, the whole nine-yards! Anyway, I was thinking as I was crossing it how cool it would be to go up into one of the towers! I am not exactly sure how tall those towers are but we are talking some major height! So, as I was thinking this I thought you know I just need to start a "Bucket List". I have friends that have one, heard others talk about making one, but never really gave it much thought until tonight. And then I came across this posting! So, here is my "Bucket List" not in any particular order.
    1. Go up in one of the towers on the Mackinac Bridge
    2. Go to Alaska to see my sister.
    3. Visit Hawaii
    4. FIND A PUPPY
    5. Take all of my children and their children on a camping trip, doesn't matter where, I just want us to be all together.
    6. Take my 78 year old mother on an airplane (she has never been on one) to Florida to see my oldest sister.
    7. Catch a larger walleye than my husbands record catch.
    8. I would love to Zip Line somewhere, not sure where.
    9. to know in my heart and soul before I die that everyone of my family members know how much they mean to me!

I've tried having a bucketlist, but the things on my list all had a time or place for accomplishment. Those times would come and go, or I couldn't get to the place.
So for me, I learned to accomplish daily or weekly events. This works much better for me, and I get a much better feeling of getting things done.

Wow...now that looks like some pure fun! I don't know if I will ever get that kind of chance but it sure is cool just to read about it and look at the photo's. You know, it brings to my mind some pretty heavy questions....having a "bucket list" and wanting to do this or that. What it all really boils down to is having the time and of course the money. I will never stop dreaming, and having the desires...but I also have to stay real about it as well...I probably will never have that kind of money and that is okay...I still like to think that maybe, just maybe, it could happen. VERY awesome place...thanks so much for sharing it with me....curious, have you gone there? Was it fun? I bet it was.... :)

I have not gone there yet, Michelle, but one of these day I will wake up, think about it and just go! A school teacher friend of mine took his entire class and they had a super time!
