Oh, woo hoo!!! I was a huge fan of "Dexter" and I just heard that Showtime is bringing it back for a 10 episode mini series. The reprisal will star Michael C. Hall in the title role, as before. https://tvline.com/2020/10/14/dexter-revival-showtime-season-9-michael-c-hall/
My youngest son tuned me into Showtimes' Dexter series. I couldn't get into it at first but I gave it a second try and really liked it. It really got twisted toward the end with the sister's involvement. Unfortunately I gave up my premier channels so I won't be seeing its revival series.
It did get weird toward the end, but I enjoyed the entire series. My favorite season was when John Lithgow was the villain... I just love him. Did you know that Michael Hall was married to the actress who played "Deborah", his sister? They have since divorced but what a weird dynamic.
I've been binge-watching the original Dexter series on Showtime in preparation for the revival. Anxiously awaiting November.
I never have watched that show. Although I have watched countless serial killer documentaries and movies, something about turning the serial killer into the protagonist didn't sit well with me.
You should watch the first episode at least. Dexter only kills evil killers that for one reason or another have not gotten their due via the legal system; he's more of a vigilante. I find a lot of the dark humor very enjoyable, but I'm weird.
I think I started watching it, but can't remember. I am not much of a serial killer show fan. After finding out that a strange man I encountered at a rest stop on I - 84 in the early 1970s was Ted Bundy and a distant cousin (I never met) was in prison for 20 years (before execution) for killing several young women, I struggle to watch such without having bad nightmares.
I was at this guy's apartment a couple of times, and probably during the time that his girlfriend was composting in the closet. I spoke of it here. I didn't know the guy, and I don't think the guy I went there with knew him well either, but still. Since her body was discovered in his apartment, the liberal folks at Wikipedia (and elsewhere) have done a good job of erasing him from the history, now saying that he claimed to have been a founder, but he was one of the co-founders of Earth Day, and Wikipedia acknowledged that until it became an embarrassment to Earth Day. I don't know, it seems consistent to me: earth day, composting, it fits. Yeah, I might give it a try.
The first episode of Dexter--New Blood premiered on Showtime last night. It did not disappoint. Seems like the series will carry on in the same style as before, and I'm glad. I always enjoyed Dexter's "voice overs". One disappointment was that the old theme music has changed, though they kept the same music for the credits at the end.
