Lon, I had to scan through a 1000+ Christian songs from the past 20 years to find <40 for my music colllection, so I apparently don't like most Christian music either - but that's because I'm really picky with everything. I sure like it though when I do find a new song that strikes me right.

Without committing you to listening to Christian music in general, I'll bet that there are a few songs among them all that even you might appreciate because the genre includes a lot of styles. Here's a good bluegrass video I just discovered 2 weeks ago. Give it a try.

Christian music is OK for those who are into it...but I just find it too "preachy".

The hymn "The Holy City" (Jerusalem) is an exception)

Which "Ave Maria"...the Schubert or the Bach?

The Schubert is the sweeter, while the Bach is more grandiose.

Dunno Hal. We can have so much diversification in Christian music but at the end there are only 2 types. One is a testimonial About God / Jesus Christ and the other is singing TO God / Jesus Christ.
Like the 23rd Psalm which just about every Christian and Jew knows by memory. The first few verses are singing About God and nearly the rest is singing To God.

Maybe it’s the “about God” music you’re not particularly fond of?

I do not find Christian Music distasteful, Bobby...just boring, like most Church sermons.

Most of the Hymns are quite beautiful musically...it's just that the words are meaningless to me.

    Amen.

When I was a little boy, and heard "The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not Want",
it sounded to me like the Lord was being Discarded, and "Not Wanted".

I didn't know what "I shall not Want" meant.

    From what I understand :
"The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want".

If the Lord is your Shepherd it means you will lack nothing, and I for one certainly don't.

No one is bereft of trials and tribulations, some more than others, I consider them "blessings in disguise". Trust me, since of late I have had a lot more "blessings " than I could handle.!!!

Here's a new favorite I'll share for anyone appreciating a good tune, words, and harmonizing Christian song:
