    Not my kind of music. I guess that's why I'm not familiar with her.

    Her Indian name translates to "Gargles With Acid."
    Same goes for Rod Stewart.

    I suspect she only has a following because of her untimely demise...same goes for Jim Morrison (although I do like The Doors.)

    edit to add: I don't see how you could avoid ever having encountered her music. I can't think of any radio station over the years that has not played her. It's kinda like saying you never heard of Lawrence Welk. Now I'm curious.

    My older brother went to high school with Janis; she was 2 years ahead of him at Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur Texas.

    That's pretty cool. WIKI says she was born in Port Arthur. I bet she was a wild child.

    My ex M.I.L. went to high school with Warren Beatty in Arlington VA. I don't recall any stories. His sister (Shirley McLean) would have been 3 years ahead of him. Both born in Richmond VA up the road from me.

    That's the closest I've ever gotten to celebrity.

    @Lon Tanner answer to an old question.

    The capital of Lithuania is Vilnius. Lithuania is the southernmost of the three Baltic countries Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania that were all formerly part of the Soviet Union.

    What’s the capital of Tanzania? No cheating!

    Dodoma. Most people think it's Dar Es Salaam. I have a cousin who lived in both cities.

    @Silvia Benoit

    This brings up a "sore point" in my wife's and my considerations for her coping when I'm gone. I have tried to establish understanding on her part for many of the day to day ministrations I must undertake to keep our existence "fluid". Servicing the evaporative cooler is a good example. These things are prone to simple and routine failures, from clogging of the water system to pump or blower motor failure. I have walked her through pump replacement, last problem she actually repaired by herself! But the simple float-valve water level control continues to exasperate her, and repeated efforts to adequately explain it's operation are met with continuing obstinance!
