Friday afternoon I decided to lose some of the weight gain caused by social distancing and lockdown boredom. If I write it down publicly I tend to stick with it. Just one last thing... about the truck. Do I want to keep up with regular maintenance and synthetic oil on the EcoBoost engine, with all the moving parts? Regular maintenance is not my strong suit. They ruined the V8 for 2021 (cylinder deactivation). Not chancing it. Only the V6 remains simple.
I've been doing this off and on since before they started putting calories on packages. Even before the internet, when you had to carry a book around just to look stuff up. It's a piece of cake (400 calories) now, by comparison.
and just to add to that motto -- if it's broke and paid for, get it fixed. If it's broke and not worth fixing get rid of it. Keep up the good work with counting those calories.
(1/27/2021) Wednesday Beans, cheese & ketchup: 290 Mixed vegetables (1-2/3c): 160 Frozen dinner (LC meatloaf): 260 Half sandwich (1 egg; 1 bread): 160 Total: 870 I like these little Michelina's frozen dinners, only $1 each, 180 calories. Just a pitiful little patty of Salisbury "steak" and runny mashed potatoes. But throw some mixed vegetables in the gravy, thicken the potatoes a little, and everything tastes good. They are hard to find. Today it was meatloaf and potatoes by Lean Cuisine. Almost $3 each, 70 more calories, tasteless. "Taste beyond words..."
This is getting to be a little too much. I just decided on a Ranger with a regular V6 engine. My old one was a V6. It was fine. Lasted 24 years with no problems. The only thing I don't like on the 2021 is the console. One compromise is fair. So I went to configure it again and guess what. They have just now dropped the V6 as an option on the 2021 Ranger. One choice only, the 4 cylinder 2.3L EcoBoost. They have also dropped the regular V6 on the F-150. Btw, would you believe Ford pipes sound through the audio system to make the EcoBoost engine sound better? Too many moving parts making ugly noises. Back to the drawing boards, and more compromising.
I hate when they: -Take away stuff that you like -Force stuff on you that you dislike I had an 1989 Chevy S-10 with the 4.3 litre V6. I really liked that motor in that truck. I have a 2005 GMC Canyon with the 3.5 litre inline 5. I really hate that motor in that truck. I just bought a Mazda in 2019 and people on the forums are laughing at them having the "Vroom" noise through the stereo on one of the models. What are we...5 years old??? Maybe they can put windshield wipers on the inside to wash away the spittle as we make our own motorboat noises.
Ford 4 cylinder engine puts out good power EcoBoost is powered by a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 310 horsepower Go Granny Go
Thank you, Herb. I don't need to go fast or scratch off. I just need to mosey. See all the "stuff" on the side of this engine? See all those extra parts? There is a chain inside that goes bad if you don't use synthetic oil and change it often. There is a little light on the dash that tells you when to change oil. I do not want to have to put tape over that light. But it looks like I'll have to "settle." {sigh}
@Herb Durant: One thing I've learned here is to NEVER hit the + Quote button. I've been here almost 3 years and still don't understand what it does. Always use Reply. It will automatically quote. Or just start typing in the bottom box to not quote. I want to see your comment. Please try again.
