I hae quit buying coffee beans. There are a number of coffees I like but I don’t buy my groceries any more. I’m buying Dunkin’ ground and if its not available, my buyer will substitute something else. We don’t have many choises unless we buy on line and that is a hit and miss. Would you believe making the morning coffee around here is something of a hassle?
I'm not sure that I am going to be able to drink this Starbucks stuff. If it's not the worst coffee I've ever tasted, it's pretty close. I wish they had dug the dead rat out quicker. The Dunkin' Donuts beans aren't bad. They're nothing special, but easily drinkable.
I have been saved by Black Rifle. This shipment includes two that are new to me, but I haven't had anything by Black Rifle that was bad, and nothing could be as bad as Starbucks. The Coffee or Die stuff is a medium roast, which sounds good to me, and the Power Llama Coffee is a light roast, and I am pretty sure that I'll like both of them. The Starbucks beans are in the compost box, where they will probably encourage all of my worms to move to the next county. If I could find my electric coffee grinder, I would grind the beans before composting them since I'm sure that would be faster but, since I use a manual one, the electric one has been set aside in one of those places where it will probably never be seen again.
Now that I have had two pots of each, I've decided that I prefer the Power Llama stuff, but only be an edge.
I got an email from Black Rifle, tempting me with that Power Llama. I'm not drinking much coffee lately so I've cut back on ordering. I even have to pour water through my Bunn every day or so just to top off the tank. (I mainly just have a k-cup a day so not using the Bunn.)
Well, whadayaknow? From WEBMD... Researchers have found that coffee drinkers may be less likely to have: Liver cancer Cancer in the lining of the uterus, called the endometrium Fibrosis, a disease that makes scar tissue form inside your liver. It’s a reaction to conditions like hepatitis or alcohol use disorder. Cirrhosis, a late stage of fibrosis. As this disease gets worse, your liver has a harder time doing its job. Non-alcohol-related fatty liver disease, which develops when the liver cells store too much fat. This also keeps your liver from working like it should. If you’re a big-time coffee lover, the news gets better. The more you drink, the more your chances of liver disease go down. In one study, researchers found that putting away 2 cups a day cut the odds of cirrhosis by 44%, and 4 cups a day lowered them by 65%.
Hah. I read on the BC forum that some people have trouble with liver enzymes on chemo, and that coffee was a help in controlling that. So I had to jump on Google and see for myself. "Trust, but verify. And drink coffee."
Sheesh, I used the Bunn tonight for the first time in months. All that ground coffee in the cupboard was making me feel guilty.
