Nah. Ghost hunting is exhilarating provide you have some idea what you are dealing with and the spirit was not from a violent death. You and your Aussie Fred are becoming good pals Terence since you lost brave Ginger. Shirley seems to have gone walkabout like the Australian Aborigines.....
We are refreshed thanks to Sister Phil..we have all the gear so when are we leaving for our Roanoke fishing trip. The fish wont wait for us.....
I was actually fishing on the Roanoke last Sunday. I didn't see anything suspicious, though. Maybe we need to look further down. I heard a rumor that there might be a sunken boat from that era near Jamesville.
Crikey Shirley, Jamesville is just up river from here from Sister Philomena's Orphanage. Upriver and Sheriff Watts is the Law there! I snorkel ok but not scuba. Maybe hire one of those underwater drones? Shirley, Deputy Crow told me to tell you that old artifact only works for one, and only when you've put a drop of your fresh blood into its cup. It then makes you invisible to any Croatoan evil beings. A diabetic lancer does that real easy. Two of the kids here are diabetic. I'll get you some of those sterile lancets. Say a small handful. Twelve yo Jim can show you how, its real easy he says. Craig, can you Scuba? I know you're a very good fisherman. We could hire stuff. I wonder what the locals know of that sunken boat? Or Sheriff Watts...? He knows everyone there and abouts. Imagine if it was close to here! Best ask Sister or are there clues in her books she loaned you Shirley?
Terence a big no from me to this. I want nothing to do with evil demons. Let the spirits of Native Americans take care of them. What do you say Shirley. The sunken ship sounds much more our kinda adventure. I dont scuba dive but always wanted to learn how.....
I'll save the old artifact, just in case. You never know when you might need a little magic. In the meantime, Craig and I will take a look at the river bottom. The local people say the wreck is located about a mile downstream from the old bridge. Terence, you stay on the boat and keep a look out. If one of us tugs on the rope three times, it means we are in trouble and get us up quickly. Get me first, of course.
No worries Shirley, I'll do that. Even got some simple glass bottomed boxes to see things underwater. The gps says we're close to the spot. Want to use the looking box Shirley, Craig? There's four. The kids love them. Look at all those Salmon. I'll fish later.
Here we go drifting down the Roanoke.... We see turtles.... A cottonmouth moccasin.. better steer the boat to the other side, Terence. We don't want to get too close to him. Watch out for bears...... The friendly owl says, "Whooo, whooo, who are you?" The coyote looks but doesn't approach us. We'll soon be where to sunken boat is supposed to be.
This is the old style way to scuba Shirley. Ok gal I am ready to do some shipwreck searching. I did not ask but is this ship supposed to carry anything valuable. I expect if it did any jewels or old coins have already been salvaged as, I understand, the ship sunk in the last century and we certainly aren't the first to look for it....
Jeez Shirley, that's the gnarliest Bear I've even seen. That Cottonmouth Snake scares me just as much. You know your stuff about these critters. Thanks. Port or starboard, your call. Look out for underwater snags too with the looking boxes you n Craig. Not been to these parts of the river before. I'd hoped you were scuba skilled Craig. Plenty of flippers, masks and snorkels on board tho. Ropes n nets too. "Fred, don't bark at Bears!" (In real life, my ex farming neighbours have a Red Cloud Kelpie just like Fred. A gorgeous and hyper active dog called Noah. If I make a noise in my yard Noah barks as he should. I just say "hiya Noah" and he immediately settles. Likewise with my other neighbour's Fox Terrier called Monty. My pitch black Chihuahua X Kelpie (?) has the best hearing and smarts. He knows the sounds of cars that visit me even.)
Well we have had one descent without any luck. Do you want to make another Shirley before we call it a day. By the way what is a our course of action if and when we find the sunken wreck....
Craig!!!!! Help!!!! There is an alligator swimming this way! And I'm stuck on an underwater snag! Quick! Pull the rope three times so Terence can pull me up! Can you swim this way and get me unhung? But don't come too close. He might get both of us.
Fred started barking and Terence saw ripples but unsure of what caused them waited for the signal of 3 rope tugs. Holding onto the two ropes he grabbed his rifle and cocked it one handed, just to be sure. Then Terence peered through the looking box towards the ripples.
Is that an alligator? Rest in peace mate as Terence put a bullet through its skull. Fred did his victory dance and Craig managed to untangle Shirey's rope from the snag and tug 3 tines for Terence to pull them up. All good. "Thank God you're safe" he panted. "Red's been pulling your rope too Shirley. He's got a nose for danger and this place seems to unsettle him somehow" ?
