I have been on two cruises. Though I prefer larger ships. More space to walk about and less likely to roll due to bad weather.
I have been on six cruises and none had more than 250 passengers. My first and best was a 12 day honey moon cruise with my second wife on a 90 ft twin masted schooner from one end of the Tonga Chain of islands to the other with several stop offs to visit different islands. The attached ship is the R Tucker Thompson out of the Bay of islands, New Zealand.
So where did you pick up your love of sailing, Lon? I apologize if you've spoken of Navy service and I've forgotten.
Gotcha. I like land-locked water features myself. I love creeks, rivers, ponds and lakes...primarily as fishing spots. I do not like being on the open waters, riding the roller coaster of waves, and being out of sight of land. I was talking to a friend who was in the Navy the other day. He says being on night watch in the middle of an ocean is like being in outer space.
I would love to sail the Island Passage and the Sognefjord on the smaller sized ship you're talking about @Lon Tanner . The idea of being not totally out in the middle of the ocean feels safer to me.
