Not really in South Aust , Melbourne ( Victoria ) used to be the gangland hotspot for murders
including the murder of one of the top crims while he was in prison
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melbourne_gangland_killings

Melbourne is about 700+ km from Adelaide SA , it’s been on the quiet side for quite a long time over there since Carl Williams was killed
    Story down here vvvvvvvv

With what has been going on, the public is wondering what's going to happen this summer.

Chicago seen it's share this last weekend, as well as some other areas of the U.S..

A man, who escaped the gun violence in Chicago and moved to Minneapolis, was gunned down this last weekend.

A little girl was shot in the head, and died, when bullets were flying.

It is being reported that handguns are being used more than assault type rifles.

More police on the streets of high-crime areas? Then again, there were/are those that want to defund the police/law enforcement.

    Your thoughts............

Gun violence is out of control in cities throughout the country that have been heavily dominated by Democrats for decades. Interestingly, these are the same cities where most cases of police violence occur.

Conversely, look at the safest areas.
Right to Carry = Lowe Crime Rates

In fact, as gun ownership has increased and the number of privately-possessed firearms has increased crime has gone down and accidental shootings have also gone down. Around 2014 or so, homicides hit their lowest NUMBER since the FBI started keeping stats in 1960...the RATE (killings-per-capita) really bottomed out. Murders have crept back up since then but are still near historic lows.

Why did we hear nothing of this on the news??? That should be cause for celebration! (Corrupt ba$tard$.)

President Biden and the White House says they are going to try. Well, the word "try" is a very big word.

Stop gang gun violence, and how? Stop domestic gun violence within a family, and how? Stop gun violence in road-rage incidents, and how? Stop gun violence when a person gets angered by someone telling them "put on a mask", "sorry, got your burger order wrong", etc., etc.

Even the Mayor of Chicago sent a letter to Biden asking him for help, due to the very high gun violence in her city.

Actually, every Monday a person could read about all of the gun violence that happens in the U.S. all weekend long. It's truly disturbing, but it's really, really happening.

It's getting to be that the words, "mass shooting" is commonplace today. Very, very unfortunately as well as scary.

Prosecute people involved in criminal activity. No more wrist slaps. Changes to gun laws only take away rights belonging to rightful owners. Criminals don't obey laws.

I had a friend once who always said to those who throw up their hands and say nothing can be done... For sure, if no one tries anything, nothing will change. Try some things. If something doesn't work, try something else.

I'd like to see someone try this (similar to automobiles):

Register every gun. No charge. Just claim you own it, maybe as simple as registering online. If you sell it or give it to someone you have to report that. If a gun is found at a crime scene, cops start looking for the last known owner, with a hefty fine for every person not reporting ownership.

But, just how do we stop the gun violence in domestic/family situations? And/or, how does the White House plan on handling gangs in big cities?

It seems to me that every prison-released convict is told, by other prisoners, "when you get out, somehow/someway, get yourself a gun. You will need it."

What really amazed me was an article I read today online that stated how many felons turned in information for a background check to buy a gun. I really thought that everyone knew that a felon couldn't have a gun, including the felon themselves.

The problem is not the guns. The problem is that people are so angry and entitled. Mental health is the bigger issue.

As for registering guns... what purpose does that serve? Criminals are still not going to follow the laws, period.

Registering guns doesn’t really help, as Beth pointed out, because the criminals don’t follow the law. So, if a criminal steals your gun and then commits a crime, and they trace the ownership back to you, what good does it do to fine the last known owner , @Nancy Hart ?
The criminal that stole the weapon, or bought it on the black market, is sure not going to register the gun, and registered gun owners who are not criminals , are not out there committing crimes with their guns.

Most of the areas who are having so much more crime are also the same cities that wanted to defund the police, or otherwise stop them from carrying out their duties.
I think that allowing our law enforcement do their job properly would go a long way towards helping to solve the problem. A lot of the complaints to Biden are just to help encourage stricter regulation for legal gun owners, and not anything to actually help stop criminals.
Heck….. we now call the criminals heroes and erect a statue for someone if they attack and threaten a pregnant woman.

I strongly agree, except that I would be in favor of paying to register, and perhaps require insurance, similar to automobiles. If stolen, it should be immediately reported.

by the way, I still have the 22 cal pump action that I got for my 10th (or 11th?) birthday. I'm still a damned good shot.
