@Beth Gallagher ..Yes! Just arrived a bit earlier. Spent 5 whole mintues and my legs already feel the burn . I figure 5 mintues 3 times a day for now. Mark got on it breifly. He wanted to move to spare room- Nooo this is going close to the tv.
So how was it? How is your balance on it? Are you comfortable using it? And good move leaving it in the TV room, you sly dog
Just out of curiosity, which one (or both) is giving you the trouble? Right leg view. Or is it more to one of the sides?
It is right behind the knee. But as I said, I have always had [lack of] flexibility issues. The chiropractor put the back of my foot on his shoulder, locked my knee with his left arm, and tried to stretch me out over the course of several sessions. I doubt that my leg made it to 45°
How hard is it to point your toes? When you do, can you feel it in the back of your knee? If you can and if that’s the area you’re talking about then it’s the plantarus muscle and it’s attached to the longest tendon in the human body. I’m just curious John and no, I’m not trying to be a doctor but muscle groups and such interest me. I’ve seen some pretty grisly tears and ruptures and did a couple of numbers on myself too that I didn’t think I’d ever get over. But, after doing a little self diagnosing I could go to the sports med guy and give him a better idea of where the problem was.
I appreciate your interest, Bobby. I'm angry I did not seek help with this decades ago. It was a major inhibitor when I got into yoga in the late 70s and of course inhibits maintaining back flexibility. When I point my toes, It feels tight along the tops of my feet. I do not feel discomfort in my legs at all. When I pull my feet backwards (point my toes at myself), I feel it pull behind my knees and nowhere else. When I jump on the trampoline, I feel pain behind my right knee, the same pain as when I got off my bike hot-dogging it up the hills in Lancaster County PA. That right-side tightness also feels tight and achy all the way up my right side to my buttocks.
Yeah, I can kind of see how that would happen. That right bicep f. has a short and long head with the long going up to the glutes. They’re both attached behind the knee. But that plantarus muscle and tendon is still kinda resonating because if there was a lot of damage done around that area then then plantarus might have gotten a little complacent and stiffened up so to speak. If you’re getting that stretchy achy feeling around your lower right glutes then it’s highly possible that that little tiny plantarus muscle might be holding everything back from doing their job. It’s a guess. Take two aspirin then skip 4 hours. Oh yeah, you probably can’t skip either.
I don't think so. I'm gonna call my doctor and see who he refers me to. I have a podiatrist appointment on Tuesday, maybe I'll ask him. Of course, this has been exacerbated by age and being sedentary.
My balance seemed good. Of course I am being extra careful also. I was barefooted which seems ed work well. The bar is much stronger than i thought it would be. Soon as I am fed and dressed will start on my first 5 minutes ,hope to do least three times a day and work my way up. My legs are not even sore from yesterday. Are you going to be able to use yours?
Your choice but personally I like the sports med guys. When I was having knee problems the GP asked for an x-ray which showed little if anything. Then I was referred to a sports med guy (orthopedic) and he had an MRI done and bingo, it showed every fissure and worn area of the cartilage. Turned out I needed a Cortisone shot and I haven’t had any problems since and that was 4 years ago. I went from barely being able to walk to doing multiple reps at 600+. Dunno what would have transpired if I had simply stuck with the GP.
