I've mentioned before that since UVA Hospital took over my GP's practice, he's become more of a referral conduit than he has a deliverer of care. This has upsides and downsides. I'm not that concerned I'd get stuck in an infinite loop with him. And I don't need referrals with Medicare and my supplemental. I'm up the road from University of Virginia, which has a nationally-known athletics program. I should be able to find someone competent. Thanks.
Yeah, they’d have a lot more information and can key in on areas that regular doctors simply cannot do. I mean, if they can keep a player who has just had his legs tied behind his neck on the field then I’m in.
Just finished my second 5 minute round on the trampoline. There are also videos on U tube for seniors on how to start bouncing around. There are many claims to the benefits of bouncing,,,we shall see.
I am a skeptic on things, but this is what I do know about myself after 3 days of 3 - 5 minute trampoline bouncing. I am off the cane again, don't need for now. I was taking a shower this morning and kept thinking why do i keep feeling something has changed - Bingo - I got of bed (too early today but) without any pain! I was back to barley being able to get out of the bed. Fearing my disease was back. Plus, my knees that were KILLLING me, to the point of just having finished X rays (doctor ordered} on them ,are so much better. I do not know if this improvement IS due to bouncing, or weather related. Whatever-this buttercup is going to suck up the pain free days while I can
That is such GOOD news, Gloria!!! I swear, all it takes is some movement and to get the circulation going. I'm lining up an appointment with the Sports Health area of the huge hospital here that's owned by the University of Virginia to get my knees looked at so I can join you. Your comment makes me smile.
Even if you can only do a little bit at a time, @John Brunner , it is good for your lymph system drainage. It seems to really speed my heart up enough that I worry it might go into a-fib (over 120bpm), so I only do a few bounces at a time. When I do it in the water, I am fine; so I will continue to do that, and just use the trampoline a bit at a time. I always do little bounces anyway, just enough to try and clear the lymph system.
17 days later and still bouncing. However, have only been doing two 5 minute intervals a day. My calves were hurting so have started wearing my shoes - they are lite weight, and this helps. This week hope to get a bit stronger and at this and maybe add a minute or go to 3 times a day. I can definitely tell I am under going some type of body change. However weight is not one of them at the moment. It amazes me that my knees had hurt so bad I literally could barley walk at times. Now, no pain, and very little stiffness after setting. I wish I had thought about getting one of these long time ago. I certainly have more energy ! Just amazes me at the difference in my body using thins thing. @John Brunner mine has stated to squeak but I do not care. I refuse to move from the living room, unless the Pope is stopping by for a visit. . I am gonna get that man of mine on this thing one way or the other
Oooooh glad I looked at this thread just now...I didn't know they even had a trampoline with a hold/balance bar. Thanks! Gonna take a look at the rest of the posts and see what else I can learn.
This puts a big ol' smile on my face, Gloria!! I can't tell you how glad I am that this has worked out this way for you. And who cares about the noise? It only squeaks when you're using it. That's a "feature." Everything else considered, I don't really fixate on weight all that much. Look at the way your system is benefiting in ways you can feel. There's lots more going on that you're not gonna be able to readily measure. Give it time. So what's up with Mister Mitchell? Is he gonna be oppositional? -Tell him you just noticed that you accidentally ordered the man's model. -Put a photo of a disfavored politician on the mat and let him trample on it for a while.
I don't know if the image is gonna post right but...After reading through this thread and doing a ton of research, this is what I ended up getting: Gotta buy according to MY pocket book but it seems like a pretty good one...And thanks for the incentive you ALL Balight 40" Foldable Mini Trampoline, Fitness Rebounder With Adjustable Foam Handle, Exercise Trampoline For Adults Indoor/Garden Workout Max Load 330lbs Eleanos $59.88 List WAS $89.82 It's supposed to be arriving today (Friday July 9) and I am so excited to get this party started. I want to thank you all again...I mean, in doing even more research, it looks like there are a ton of benefits to this "rebounding"! Especially for an older gal like myself. I also ran across some videos on youtube by Blanche Black that I love. She too is an older gal but man she sure doesn't act like it in these videos. She's a goer! SO between my (newly acquired) inversion table and the rebounding...I'm hoping for renewed vitality mentally AND physically! (fingers crossed) Sorry I think I used the wrong icon for inserting the image. This way of doing it is new to me. SO I actually copied and pasted the image from the website to here...
That looks like a real sturdy grab bar, Sunny. I like the two connection points at the bottom...no way it's gonna swivel or pivot. Here's a refreshed link to your trampoline. I think the one you posted got compromised. That's a very good price!! Somewhere in this thread I posted a link to a woman who has training videos, and there's at least one where her grandmother does the same exercises side-by-side, just toned down a little bit. It's a fascinating thing that the word needs to be spread around on. More people need to be aware of these things.
Thanks John! I thought it looked pretty stable and good price wise but it makes me feel better to get someone elses opinion. And thanks for the help with the image! Yep I have subscribed to yours and anybody elses that posted links to videos on you tube. They are great! Oh my gosh, for sure more people need to be made more aware of the benefits of these. I couldn't believe all of them, it's awesome. I am really looking forward to getting started on it!
@Sunny Bonet .. so glad you got one ! Word of caution start slow. i have started at 5 minutes 2 x a day.. later to find out should have been 2 minutes. I got my 6-19, and have only missed one day. Since that time..I am off my cane, my legs are much stronger I can get in truck by myself! My energy level has increased. My knees were really bad, now no issue. I have watched her videos also. i will increase to 3x a day end of this week Keep me posted how this works for you.
