My rant is that I had a hankering to read some good rants this morning and found this thread turning into a love fest. Happy talk about cooking using anise ... what has this thread degraded into? I know they use intestines for making sausages, but anise is just going too far.

Well, I’d be a little incensed if I found that someone was using anise or even two-nises in a recipe.

What's all this fuss I keep hearing about endangered feces? Now, that's outrageous!! Why are feces endangered? How can you possibly run out of such a thing? Why, just look around you, you can see it all over the place! Besides, who wants to save that anyway? My goodness, where would we keep it?! It's dangerous, especially in the summer!! Then it could really hit the fan!

To make matters worse, those cooking with anise say it tastes like licorice. Using anise is one thing but failing to wash it before cooking is another and then whining about a licorice taste is just mind-boggling.

I found her "Violins on TV" video, but the "Endangered Feces" one does not appear to be uploaded.

I agree. It's like fighting a land war in Asia, or taking on a Sicilian when death is on the line.

I mean, what are people thinking???

I'd be a little incensed if I found that someone was burning sandalwood .

Here's my rant; my damn washing machine won't turn on. The control panel is totally dead. I tried to pull it out from the wall to see if the plug somehow worked its way out but I can't budge the damn thing. The hubby isn't home so I'm stuck. I don't know if it's on a circuit by itself but the dryer comes on just fine. SIGH.

I’m pretty sure it’s a different circuit. Dryers are 220 and a washer is 110.
If you can plug something like a light or small tool in to another outlet in the room and it works then it’s the washer. If whatever you plug in doesn’t come on, it’s more than likely a circuit breaker.

That said, if the washer is on a singular circuit (designated circuit) which rarely is the case then it can either be the washer or the circuit.

Your dryer is on its own 220v circuit unless it's gas, in which case it's 120v. Your washing machine is on 120v circuit along with other stuff.

I doubt that the plug pulled itself out. You likely have a tripped breaker...or Lowes just booked another appliance order. ;)

My dryer is gas and plugged into 110 for the blower (I think.) I'm going to have to wait on the hubby to look at it because I can't move the damn thing and I don't know which breaker it's on.

Another Emily Litella... "It's always something."

Didn’t think about the dryer being gas. Probably both on the same breaker….

So, the breakers aren’t marked huh? Another job for hubby to do when he gets home. Makes it easier than turning them all off and then having to turn them on one by one whilst walking around the house to see which circuit turns on.

I don't know whether they are marked or not; I don't "do" electricity. :D (I imagine that they are marked.) That breaker box is not my purview.
