Generally speaking that are high-quality shingles that simulate other materials, like cedar or slate. I don't know if they carry a longer warranty that regular shingles.
Yes. I just got them put on my house. I like them. They may be a little more expensive. The pattern is a little odd. Not the usual straight lines. It makes them look thicker. I don't know if they actually are thicker or not.
Your question made me go to a shingle manufacturer's website and read. Apparently the ones you and I grew up using (strip shingles) are now only used by builders on "economy homes." Bill, I got a copy of Montana Sky today. I opened it to read the first page or two. I put it down 76 pages later. The first sentence is: "Being dead didn't make Jack Mercy less of a son of a bitch. One week of dead didn't offset sixty-eight years of living mean." .....End of quote. The epitaph he had inscribed of his tombstone read, "Here lies Jack Mercy, He lived life as he wanted, died the same way, The hell with anybody who didn't like it." I think it's going to be a humdinger of a story. Which makes me think of something we did on another forum years ago. We had a sort of book club. If we read a book that we liked, we would send it on to another person if they wanted to read it. Then that person would send it on to another person. I wonder it anybody here would be interested in doing that? I'd be happy to send this one on if somebody wants to read it...... after I finish it.

I slept late this morning. I was awaken earlier, around four a.m. by a thunderstorm which was a noisy thing. I awoke again at nine and got up immediately. It's not like me to sleep this late. After getting my fix of coffee, I dressed, put my hearing aid in my ear and picked up my harmonica, playing "This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine." Each morning when I pick up my harmonica there is no telling what pops into my had, what song. I usually play whatever pops into my head if I can. Sometime its a stately affair like 'The Star Spangled Banner' or some song learned in my youth, or maybe something I heard on the radio recently, like some B.B. King blues. At any rate it helps loosen the moister in my lungs so that I can cough it up. That doesn't sound nice but that's the way it is. I had oatmeal for breakfast. Oatmeal and a piece of buttered toast and coffee. When i bought groceries yesterday, I bought some raisins to put in my oatmeal but didn't think of it this morning until the bowl of stemming hot oatmeal wasd placed in front of me. I'll try the raisins next week sometime. Also our DIL gave us some jellies and homemade butter she bought at the Amish store here in Norman. The butter, unlike butter bought in a grocery store, had a flavor. A good flavor, one I suppose you couod compare to a mild cheddar cheese and an extra stong cheddar. There was more of flavor to the homemade butter. There is no wind this morning and and it seems muggy and humid. From the looks of things I'd say we got more than two inches of rain the morning. The forecast for the weekend was for four to seven inches of rain for the area. I'm ready for a lengthy spell of dry weather and I hope it begans today. My granddaughter came over yesterday and brought lunch (chick-fil-A). She stayed and visited for a couple of hours. She's packing for a sojourn to Italy and Spain yet under a restriction of what an airline will allow her to take. Her initial take is to stay two months in Italy, then four months in Barselona. She has two friends there who have an apartment and she plans to stay with them and pay her share. How exciting it all sounds, to be eighteen and the world before you yet to be explored. I'm glad for her even as I worry some about vher well being. It is obvious I had nothing to say when i started this conversation with myself thius morning. I did think it might get me going and settled into the weekend and I suppose it has done that. It's going to be a lazy weekend. I have no firm plans but expect to read some, perhaps listen to some music, eat some good food, and maybe this evening settle into my comfy chair for tv viewing with my roommate. It's a location of an address in a rural area between towns in a state where a book was going to be delivered, hopefully either yesterday or today. Said book was delivered yesterday as noted in post number 848 above. The post was to let somebody know their book was arriving but apparently was not noticed. You seem to be he first to pick up on the post. So my post that it should be delivered Friday or Saturday was revelent although it did go unnoticed by the person it was meant for. That could be called 'failure to communicate.' which I am good at.
