No. I generally work every other weekend. This is my weekend. Then Monday I'm gonna try to get the car in to get the one tire replaced. I should see what they're gonna cost and just get them all replaced.
I'm going to hafta go back and read more of Beth's diary after work tonight. Got my blueberry cobbler coffee and I'm trying to psyche myself into a good day. LOL! Got an appt for the car on Monday. I find it interesting that out of all the employees we have in our dept. there's only 2 I work perfectly with. They accept me as I am and I've never once got into an argument with either one of them even on my bad days. It's a shame they can't all be that way. I like people I can do good teamwork with and communicate with without all the drama. I have an appt Monday afternoon to take the car in to replace that tire. I think I'm gonna have them replace all 4. What was nice today was the man that sold me the car said they had no idea that this tire was bad. And they started a new thing of giving buyers this dealy that you can jump the car with and it has a compressor on it to air up tires. He brought that by for me for free at 8 PM this evening. Good customer service is hard to find. Today was horrible busy. My stress level is kinda bad right now so I've been kinda quiet at work. Don't wanna say something I don't mean. How was everyone else's day?
My day was pretty boring, Marci... which is not necessarily a bad thing. That was good customer service from the car salesman; that's kind of rare these days. Sorry about your stress level and I hope whatever is stressing you will be resolved soon.
@Beth Gallagher - Mostly it's the work situation. As soon as I can rectify it I will. We had a dr. come into the cafeteria yesterday with a card that had 0 funds on it & he got kinda smart mouthed about it with me. I told him I was sorry but I had run it twice & both times it stated not enough funds. It did the same thing for the other cashier. She told me later it's happened before. I don't know what makes him think we can put it through. Oh well. I woke early cuz I needed a breathing treatment. I might have time for a 2nd cup of coffee. I'm hoping they find some folks to replace the 2 cooks that left soon. I'm sick to death of working back in the kitchen. It's a lot less stressful in the cafeteria. Not as hard on my body either. Our grill has been pretty much closed for a month now. They have enough staff to open for lunch with a very limited menu then they close at 2 PM. If someone is sick they usually don't even open the grill now. We've lost some of our staff business because of it. The Delta variant seems to be picking up speed these days. My mother said she'd heard on the news that they are talking about the possibility of another lockdown. I don't think we'll ever be rid of this virus. It's sad.
I had a job for a while , working at an academy for juvenile delinquent teenagers. We had to make buffet meals for over 100 regular kids and staff, plus special food for vegetarians and also for vegans. There was another part of the facility where they kept the kids that couldn’t fit in with the regular program, and we had to make food for them as well, and they would come and get it at mealtimes, and carry it back to their camp in the large cooking pans. I worked mostly the 11-8/9 shift, and everyone else from the kitchen was gone by 2, after the lunch cleanup; so I was pretty much responsible for taking care of everything my myself. I was very stressed out, and hated working in the kitchen; but I needed a job, so there was no thought of quitting.
The bad thing is I just got this huge raise and I may hafta forego it for less pay to move into the cafeteria full time. I may end up making what I make now with the raise and not get the extra $4 an hr. But I'm ok with that. I need my stress level brought down to something more manageable. So we'll see. The other job I was looking at got filled so that's that. Maybe I can keep my eye out for something desk related in the future. But those jobs don't always pay very well. I'll just keep looking. Maybe I can transfer to another dept. eventually.
Hey chickie. I'm grumpy; I fell asleep after dinner and just woke up. So now I'll be awake all night.
Well welcome to club grumpy. Pull up a chair. *hands you a coffee* I'm sitting here trying to wake up and I gotta haul the car in for tires this afternoon. Might likely be a couple more days with no car. By the time they get it fixed and I'm able to pick it up. I'm exhausted from work and grouchy from work. LOL! I've been too tired to play my video games. It's been so hot and humid that it's been miserable. Be back later!
so the city is switching over to automated trash service next month. we're getting new and bigger cans. we'll see how that goes. our trash pick up moved from friday to monday now. i'm eating pizza and typing with one hand. hence no caps. lol! got the early shift again for a couple days. i hope they find some help soon.
