My mother used to make that with endive (minus the tomatoes.) It's called "Wilted Endive." I've wanted to try it but you need curly endive and I can't find it. I never thought of using kale lettuce. I say that every time I'm in this thread.
Hmmm.... The closest I've come is when my neighbors walked over a bag full of broccoli greens. I wilted them down in oil and bacon grease with some crushed red peppers thrown in to flavor the oil. Throw on a little salt, add just a tiny pinch of sugar at the end. Mmmmm.....
Next time I can get out I will get the ingredients I'm going to try a version of this recipe you Guys and Gals gave me a lot of good ideas. We have a similar recipe but we use escarole or broccoli rabe.
