Good morning everyone! Sunny and 80 today. May be going to my daughter's sooner than I thought, got an email that the 12 yr old wants grandma's help with some sort of Greek Building project.:). She didn't say when but I know they get out of school a week before Easter for spring break, so it's before that.

Mom isn't doing any better, still in the hospital and on vent. My brother seems to think that her diaphragm muscles are just too weak. He says she is comfortable and in no pain. Eventually her heart will just give out. :( Hope that's not the case and I'm working on visiting there at the end of April. It's a long way to New Jersey and it will be a sad trip.

    Have a great day everyone.

My day off and deciding what to do with it. I missed grocery shopping yesterday before work since my ex dil and her boyfriend came over so he could install my new light fixture over the vanity in the upstairs bath.
I actually don't need very much so I guess I'll go and just get those few things. Oldest GS said he'd come over to help clean out a closet if it rained but the rain stopped so he'll be working. Younger GS, my "roomie" banged his head at work yesterday really hard and it still hurts as he left this morning.

Good Morning, Y'all. It sure sounds as if everyone has a lot going on. Rest assured, whether or not people are vocalizing their support and/or concern, it's there. I can sense it in this thread, as well as elsewhere on this site.

I was in the middle of a project on the computer yesterday, listening to the incessant drone of a chainsaw on the next street over, when I heard a small 'pop' and my monitor shut off. The computer didn't shut down, and I didn't lose power throughout the house, but the internet went out. I picked up the house phone (my only phone, mind you) and it told me I had no internet. Ugh. I was too far away from the neighbor's router to hook in (we have a mutual assistance pact), so I was virtually cut off. It took me about an hour to get it back up and running, and then I went downstairs to make a cup of tea and realized the coffee maker clock was flashing.

I don't know what happened, but I find it suspicious that someone was working with a chain saw by the wires and suddenly I was having issues with my cable/internet and at least one or two breakers. I had to spend another half hour or so resetting each of the television receivers. Thankfully, my work wasn't lost, and I was able to finish my project, but that was a lot of wasted time. I posted about it on the Facebook neighborhood group, but of course no one 'fessed up about nicking a wire or whatever else happened.

So, today's a new day, and it's gorgeous out. It's sunny and breezy, and best of all, it's not too hot. I hope to not hear any chain saws today. The sound is annoying at best, and now I'll be concerned about losing power/internet/tv/phone again if I hear it. Have a great day, y'all. I hope those in need feel the comfort of the virtual friendships forged here on this site. :)

By the way, that's a gorgeous kitty @Mari North!

    Good Morning, Everyone !
I am so sorry to hear that your mom is still not doing well, @Chrissy Page , and I hope that you are at least able to go and see her one more time. It is so hard losing a parent. I remember going through that with my mom, and then a few weeks later, losing my dad. I am an only child and was close to both of my parents. I will be keeping you and your family in my prayers, and sending you a virtual HUG .

It is good to be here this morning, and feel the comfort of my friends here in the forum. I was unexpectedly banned permanently from the "other forum", where I have been a longtime member. Even though I mostly "live" here nowadays, the incident did hurt me badly, since I believe that I didn't do anything there that should have deserved being banned.
But, Chrissy and @Ina I. Wonder were right there to hold my hand, and help me get through the shock, and @Dave Sun helped, too. It is good to have friends !

Thanks @Yvonne Smith and as for you being banned from there just proves that there is something very wrong going on over there. VERY WRONG.

This is a great place and let's just all keep it going strong!

I was shocked to hear that from Chrissy earlier today Yvonne, what a mess they are in, I was banned from there some time ago with no reason given, I felt like you shocked, and emailed admin and they didn't even have the decency to reply. I feel they lack integrity and have already lost their best posters in my opinion.

Ok..it's still morning some places. Hugs @Chrissy Page . I'm sorry your mom's not doing better and that's a heartache. :(. my own mom has serious health problems and I can't even go there in my mind without it feeling like a ton of bricks fell on me.

We are working on cleaning up the garage today. I also have a car to get rid of..we're going to donate it I guess. Fun fun...but I'm going to work on my flower beds a bit too..the weather is perfect. Hope everyone has a nice day.

Sounds like there was a malevolent moon yesterday for many of us...we all seem to have some unusual or upsetting incidents happen...

@Chrissy Page I'd like to add my heartfelt wishes for you to be able to see your poorly mum very soon, I'm sure it must be a really anxious time for you being so far from her

Edit...OMG, I didn't see you last post Chrissy before I posted this..I cannot believe what awful tragedy is happening all in such a short space of time for you...((hugs)) from me too.. and R.I.P your uncle..

I know it hurts you. Was your uncle close to your mother in age? It is so hard not to be able help them, and you end up feeling, "if I could just do something".

If it would help, I and many of us would be more that glad to listen to your memories. Being able to talk of my family has helped me more than any of you know. I think our memories are meant to help us get through what we must. image.jpeg

Karen (((hugs)) for you too, so sorry that your mum is so seriously ill, it's something we all have to go through at some time if nature has it's way, but it's the most painful thing to have to endure..

Thanks Holly, I think we will not tell my mother that her brother died today either. But my youngest sister will make that call, as she is the one that is there.

Oh jeez, just saw Karens post. Hugs Karen.

@Ina I. Wonder , he was 3 yrs older than my mom but in better health. I was very close to him and thought of him as my father and wished he was.

There is a story to tell about my uncle and I will tell it another day, today it will just make me cry again.

Need to go out and just waiting for my red puffy eyes to look a little better, not because I'm vain but because I don't want people asking if I'm okay.:)

Short version of the story is that he had a crazy wife who kept him from talking to all of us after my grandmother died in 1997. So we were pretty much cut off from him and this was a man that treated me better than my father, so many good memories of him from my childhood.

Now I feel guilty that I didn't fight that b*tchy wife of his so that I could see him, now it's too late.

Lesson to learn....mend fences while you still can, talk to those you haven't in awhile because you may not get the chance later.
