Aside from the impending increase in social security pension, there is also a suggestion for the government to provide employment to seniors particularly to those who are retired employees. From what I heard, the government is considering that suggestion. But instead of jubilation, the seniors have voiced out their doubts on the success of the program simply because we have age discrimination here. What company will hire a senior? The answer is none. And if there is then that hiring would only be for show. But come to think of it, there are many retired people who are still able and willing to work with their qualifications intact. All they need is a break.

I am also thinking what I would be doing when I retire. It's not good to sit around and count my retirement pay, huh.

Even if it is voluntary, staying active is important - maybe more important than a "job" ? (when all the needs are met somehow, I don't think it is a good idea nor with good results to become inactive physically or mentally (or spiritually) , as long as there is something that can be done.... )

The Fed. govt has had for many years a program to re-hire annuitants. Nothing new here. The offer has gone out to former employees who have excelled in job performance during their careers.

I just got an alert from the VA advertising for the USPS. It said, “USPS now hiring…$100K. It doesn’t say for mail sorting or mail box deliveries or anything else. Just….$100K.

My understanding is that postal workers work by the hour. I know that they work long hours and get a bucket load of overtime pay but 100K a year?
That’s $1,923 a week! Now, the USPS is an extension of the Executive Branch of our government but $1,923 a week? That’s not even counting the merit and time based raises, health benefits, retirement pensions, 401K benefits.

I was in the wrong business for a very long time!

Grandma, get the grand babies out of bed and start teaching them how to read mailing addresses and lift small packages! To heck with college, teach ‘em how to drive a rig with a right hand steering wheel !

Note: Insisting that they join the military for a couple of years working in the mail room will guarantee them a hot spot with the USPS!

Our postmaster says that she wasn't allowed to fill an open position here, and they're not allowed to pay any overtime, and this is why everything that comes by USPS is late. According to her, they have a backlog of undelivered mail. Fortunately, we get mostly junk mail from USPS, except that my wife is waiting for a check from Ford Motors that was supposed to have been sent a long time ago, which is why the subject came up.

I know people who work for the US Census every ten years, but they weren't hired for the 2020 census because of COVID restrictions. I wonder if that's why Wikipedia still doesn't have the 2020 census figures. We didn't even get anything in the mail for the 2020 census, and couldn't help but wonder if that might have had something to do with the predictions that the Democrats would be losing seats.

We may not be employable as seniors, vets or as just American citizens. What we need to do is get south of the border and then get through the wall while Biden is still president. He is giving 10 THOUSAND dollar pre-paid credit cards in NYC paid by tax payers.
Soros and the uber rich have already bought most of the legislature, FBI, CIA, president's handlers, Trudeau and other prime ministers... Now we will be giving illegals and some citizens a minimal payment; and people who don't understand how a trap works will jump at the chance of a 4 day work week and automatic minimal payments.
Yay! We'll do it! Move where you want us! Be housed where you say! We don't feel like working hard anyway or earning what we get. Just give us freebies and we'll be happy!
They don't get it. Once on the hook, how do you get off?!
Glenn Beck wrote Agenda 21, a book on how things turned out once the agenda was accomplished. I guess some will like living like a hampster. But what do you eventually have to do or give up for your piece of cheese once in the cage?

I was so excited about this young man teaching kids to do for themselves, giving and getting respect. This might be something seniors could help with.:)

My sister is substitute teaching in a catholic inner city school in Minneapolis. I think it is not a trick but the start of a movement.

Not sure what your talking about but I was talking about the gov putting seniors to work ,there is more to it and it won't be helpful to us at all.
Catholic schools are mostly white conservatives and cost a lot of money to attend last I heard. Catholic churches on the other are not.
I also don't get how catholic school is a ' movement'.

It is a black all girl inner city school that she works for merit based accomplishments. Those young men are in a group that teaches respect of others (ie police) earns respect. It is not a bogus group.

Thats a good thing, we need more guidance for many inner city youth. Most Catholic schools cost several hundred dollars a month.
