@Lara Moss I love the photo with Mr. Clemens in the foreground! I have visited his house twice, in Hartford CT. It's beautiful.
His 1st volume of 3, of his autobiography was published in 1910, after a 100 year delay. I guess he figured everyone he blabbed about, would be dead.
@Ruby Begonia , were you a western book reader in your youth? I was, and I remember that name, but I can't remember the name of the books Clarlie Goodnight was in. Are there any new western story writers out there worth reading now days? I'm not into romance westerns novels though. I just remembered that we have a resident cowboy on this forum. @Joe Riley , do you have any recommendations?
@Ina I. Wonder, no I don't read Western books. My post was a joke relating to the video Joe posted about cowboys and coffee. In the video the man talked about this Charlie Goodnight who sold cattle for the enormous price of 20 cents a pound. I think my joke wasn't very good.
That ok @Ruby Begonia , I haven't read any western in a long time. Although Charlie Goodnight was a well know western charactor in many stories, I might be wrong, but I remember him as one of the few black cowboys in the story books back in my youth. @Joe Riley , Please tell me what I'm talking about. Do you remember Charlie Goodnight?
Charlie Goodnight is new to me, as well, Ina. The video Ruby mentioned is in my post #2199, on page 8. Check the link, for more info. He smoked 50 cigars a day, when he was younger, and lived to be 91. Read google book:Cowman and Plainsman Goodnight in 1860
50 cigars a day?? There're only 24 hours in a day. That's about a cigar every 1/2 hour. And lived to 90? I think that belongs in the Tall Tales thread Hey, Cowgirls like coffee too!
