Lon, this morning I had a nice tour of the "Solstice" facility near me. I think it would be MORE affordable than the Caregivers, since ALL meals and utilities are included in the monthly fee, which is about the same as the caregivers, but I'm fully covered with the necesssities of everyday life, with someone always around. In addition, my beloved queen-size bed with its 10 ft. headboard will fit against the bedroom walls of any of the models! There are many rooms for different activities besides the huge main dining room. I'll be visiting another "Assorted Living" facility tomorrow. Hal
I looked at Soltice online. I am at Oakmont in Fresno. I just sent a text to our Executive Director and said we should have a Pool Table & Shuffle Board. I'll betcha they get both. We certainly have the room.
I toured Solstice yesterday and Whispering Winds and Sierra Vista today. I liked Solstice so much that I went back and gave it another look today! So what do you do...make a deposit on the place you like and move some of your present furniture into it, then put your house up for sale? Hal
Play Hard to Get with them. THEY WANT YOU---Negotiate to get them to pay any of your moving costs for things you want brought from home. They will do it. Yes they will want a deposit. Be sure and check where the sun comes into your apartment and ask for a apartment to your liking. THEN--Put the old homestead up for sale. Be sure and discuss any personal needs that you require. Good Luck Amigo! BTW---If they have low vacancy right now they may waive entrance fee or deposit---ASK about incentives.
I don't understand. Aren't these places furnished? I would not have thought you could bring your own furniture with you. At the very least, I would think the quantity (and dimensions) would have to be vetted in order to fit in the new space.
No they are not furnished. Residents bring what they like from home. I brought my bed, mattress, linens, blankets, towels, sofa, table and chairs, desk, two recliners, lamps,TV, paintings, etc
If they were furnished, that would take the excitement away from enjoying your old furniture in a new setting! Nobody wants to move into a new home that's furnished! Harry
