    I had one sibling I was close to. For a period of time he had a weekly evening appointment close enough to me that we would meet for dinner. Every once in a while we would go to Hooters for oysters (they make great oysters.) Raw, steamed, fried...man they are some kinda good. The price makes them a rare treat, but a treat they certainly are.

    Yeah, love oysters too. There used to be a Hooters about 30 miles from here years ago, but they closed probably 10 years ago, don't think there's anymore around. I was only there once, for the food of course.

    The nearest one to me is about 50 miles away. The one back north where I lived was 5 miles from home and staffed mostly by women going to George Mason University. I see it's still there...likely staffed by the daughters of the women who waited on me. When you dine alone as much as I have, you get to know the wait staff pretty well, since formalities tend to be dropped when it's just the two of you.

    Back on topic: I just might have to add a trip to that "1 hour drive" Hooters for a meal. Lots of zinc (and copper) in oysters.

    Ha, yes, getting nutrients directly from food is always preferred -- as I'm sure you know.

    Didn't the feminists get in a big uproar years ago about Hooter's women earning a living? Seems that preceded the one that closed here.

    I've been feeling kind of "iffy" today so we had breakfast sandwiches for dinner. Fried egg, ham, cheese on a toasted bun with a smear of mayo. Pretty good with coffee.

    changed mind since last post,I decided to cook ,
    Meatoaf,Mashed potatoes and green beans.Maybe biscuits not sure,made enough for leftovers too.

    I posted yesterday about the neighbor giving us the box of greens, and that what I thought was kale turned out to be mustard greens. So today, I checked the whole box, and there is no kale, just mustard greens and collard greens.
    I chopped up some of both of those, and added a can of pinto beans (so it did not take hours to cook the beans), and that is what we had for supper today.
    There was also a loaf of sourdough bread in the box, so I heated part of that in the toaster oven, and had that with the beans and greens.

    I guess the next project will be to cut up the greens, put them in a bag and freeze them, so I have them ready for other meals where we want to add greens.

    The woman at Walmart told me the only way to avoid crowds is to get there before 9:30AM any weekday. I would assume most Walmarts (and retail in general) follow the same pattern...always has when I worked in the industry.

    Cool front pushed through so it's chili weather. We'll have chili and corn muffins today. I need to use some blueberries so I'll whip up a cobbler for dessert.

    I only go early during the week- before 10 if possible, and never go on the week end

    I went to the supermarket the other day, got 2 lbs of top round and made beef stew (with potato cubes, chopped onion, green beans, carrots, bacon, diced tomatoes, broth and spices). Having added a little more broth than necessary and leaving out any thickening agent, the concoction may be closer to vegetable beef soup than stew. Regardless, it's on the menu every other night for the rest of the week. Yum!
