At its peak, Roy Rogers had 600 locations. Now they're down to 43. My childhood hero was Sky King.

My lunch was the same as yours: KL ham on whole wheat with mustard, mayo, Swiss, lettuce, and my last garden tomato. And chips (always Utz.) And water.

I believe that both UTZ and Snyder have been in Hanover PA forever. I've been told that before I was born, we lived across the street from the Snyder's in Hanover. But I'm brand-loyal to UTZ. I especially like their BBQ chips.

Today we had homemade Thai style meatballs in a coconut milk, peanut and paprika sauce with Thai rice and stir fried vegetables. It was delicious. DH rolled the meatballs for me: that’s one thing I still can’t do with my hoonds (hooks/hands)

If anyone wants the recipe just yell.

What is cheese toast? Is it the same as an open-faced grilled cheese?

Yep. I like whole grain bread with a slice of muenster slid under the broiler till the cheese bubbles and the bread is toasty.

Local cheddar cheese with common soda crackers. I was too lazy to even use the microwave. I am drinking a V8 as I type to add veggies to the meal.

A wonderful treat from my baby brother. He sent us loaded shrimp and crab meat stew, rice, potato salad, and chocolate fudge cake with white filling. Yummy!

Lunch today? Well you'll never believe it but the strangest thing happened. As I was going through the supermarket this morning, a box jumped out of the freezer into my basket. I looked down and it was box of sliders, or "gut bombs" as we also used to call them. So, for lunch, I had two, White Castle, cheese sliders with a side of cottage cheese. And, yes, they slid down real good, tasting much like what I remember from the childhood days I spent with my cousin in south Chicago, Riverdale/Dolton to be exact. Pocket change would get you a bag of them back then.

Bottom line: What I had for lunch today was nostalgia, pure, misty-eyed nostalgia with a slight taste of 1950s cheeseburger thrown in.
