I had a salad, cheese & crackers for dinner 4 nights in a row (sometimes with a little summer sausage), and when I ran errands last night, I decided to do Mexican. Dinner itself was pretty light (a salad before I left home, then a chicken fajita folded in a single tortilla with no sides), but the chips & cheese dip bloated me so much I came home and went to bed 2 hours early. It tasted sooo good. But after I ate, I could not keep my eyes open. I guess I've adapted to lighter fare.

Tonight's gonna be a salad, cheese & crackers, with a little summer sausage. And homemade spicy mustard. I guess I'll be on "dinner like a pauper" for a while.

Hungarian goulash . Had to use a new recipe and it called for way too much tomato paste, still trying to tone it down / It should be good though.

I haven't had steak in quite a while, and it's not supposed to get really chilly this evening, so I got a Ribeye in the fridge with Lea & Perrins and Montreal Steak Seasoning on it.

I just may fire up the real charcoal grill.

The kids put on a feast of snack stuff that included mini beef wellingtons with sauce, crackers with some artichoke spread, croissant-wrapped sausage slices, some sushi-roll type things, several cheeses and other stuff. They got it from a catering place. I appreciate the effort but you'd think after all these years they'd know I'd be just as, if not more, happy with a good ham and swiss on rye with a dab of mustard..

I am making minestrone soup for today’s meal. We usually have one main meal and just snack otherwise when we are hungry, although I do have cereal in the morning most days.
Tomorrow, I will roast a chicken and make potato salad since Robin should be home by later today, and we expect to see her tomorrow. If not, the chicken will happen when we are going to see her.

The tortilla wrappers I have on hand expired 10 days ago; otherwise, I'd have a quesadilla or maybe a soft taco made with shrimp & leftover steak. That will have to wait until tomorrow.

Daggone Al's post is making me hungry for Chinese food.
