I just watched an unusual movie called Vlad The Impaler. I expected it to be about Dracula but it was anything but. It's from Turkey. It's told from the perspective of the Ottomans and their fight with the historical Vlad of Wallachia. Lots of swordplay. It's definitely a guy movie.

I am binge-watching Marx Brothers movies - Cocoanuts, Animal Crackers, Monkey Business, Horse Feathers, and Duck Soup, as I have them on DVD.

What movie was it where they were in a hotel room trying to get a play started? They're all hilarious but that one is my favorite.

I'll probably know before tomorrow's over but I don't remember off-hand. Thus far, I am halfway through Cocoanuts, the first of the ones I'll be watching.

I greatly enjoyed the Jesse Stone series and think it was perhaps the last series/movies I watched and haven't seen a movie since. There are a lot of movies I greatly enjoyed but they're in the past now and that's not the direction I like to look or think about, as it can dredge up memories of things I miss or missed at the time. Better to look ahead, keep moving in that direction and be open to the future.

That's an interesting perspective. I really don't like "current" movies (and I shall not ascribe a date to that.) They all seem to lack substance. I went through a period where I rented French movies because they had a real life [almost fatalistic] quality to them, rather than the neatly-wrapped unrealistic "it all works out in the end" American stuff.

The only thing that sort of concerns me is that watching familiar stuff has the same tone as a kid who likes to hear his favorite story read, merely because of its familiarity.

I find myself watching a lot of films that have a historical perspective in them.

I hesitate to do that because I am not well-grounded in history, and do not wish to be misinformed with a docu-drama. "Based on historical facts" generally means "it's mostly bullcrap about real people."

    At least, that's my perspective.

Well you can zoom in on a particular topic and see the different perspectives. I know that the tag line "based on a true event" doesn't coney anything to me except maybe the sky really is blue.

I can't remember how I saw it last. I've seen it three times. I may have rented it. I can't find it online either. Sorry.

    Found it! I don't know if there's a charge.

Damn. It's not available there either, even though they say it is.

One thing I liked is that Harry walks Tonto on a leash. I do that with my Barney.
