Mary.. if you want to go low carb, just eliminate the 5 most important foods and go for the rest.. As you already know what they are... Anything made with flour.. Anything containing pure sugar.. Anything with rice.. Potatoes.. Corn... Besides these items................................... go for it !!!! Lots of meat, fish, veggies, cheese, and fruit...
Supper tonight was a chicken burger that I made from minced chicken and froze.. I put them on the BBQ frozen.. No bun of course.. I NEVER serve my burgers on a bun.. Steamed broccoli.. Pot of tea...
We made enough for couple days so have salmon patties in fridge now. My downfall is ice cream. I do save on the sugar in the chocolate though, I just pour cocoa powder over the vanilla ice cream, it taste great, no sugar like chocolate syrup.
Marie............ I am sure you know what you are doing when it comes to eating ice-cream.. Please remember that whatever you eat, it is the low carbs that will keep your weight in control and lose weight.. Remember that cheating isn't for us, but for you.. I'm not telling you not to have ice-cream, but, I am sure there are other items that would satisfy your desire just as well without the ice-cream when it comes to sweets.. Even sugar free ice-cream has loads of carbs..
Steve ,I know your right and I am trying to work on it, but I'm getting too skinny trying to eat without carbs and I don't like a lot of meat. I would like to gain about 10 lb.s because I think women my age look better with a little extra weight, lose fat increase wrinkles. I know I'm suppose to wrinkle but these jumped on me faster than usual.
Marie.. I also am trying to gain weight and it isn't easy.. I am eating loads of carbs and calories but it still doesn't put on any weight.. Personally, I am not a big fan of ice-cream.. A milkshake is OK which I make with cream, frozen fruit, honey, and malt.. I find it very rich so I only have one every week.. Meantime, my wife is still following her low carb to keep her diabetes under control..
Steve, we gave away weights and dench when hubbly broke his back but I still have the bar and a couple 5lb. weights so last few days I lift them once a day but its hard to build muscle now that I'm old. Eating very low carbs doesn't help either.
Marie.. Doing weights won't bring on weight.. Low carb won't bring on weight either.. Unfortunately, high carbs might do it.. I am trying to gain a few pounds by high carbs and it is a slow process..
We were in Sudbury today for medical appointment and we went to wall-mart where I bought a BBQ chicken.. This chicken will feed us for two meals each.. Steamed and smashed carrots with butter.. S/F jello with heavy cream..
Mary... my wife is a diabetic and cannot have sugar.. By the same token, I avoid having sugar when she is prohibited to having it.. There is enough sugar in the foods we eat such as fruit, etc.... The last thing I want is to kill my wife over sugar which it will if she goes on having it....
