The fleur de lys Pub now renamed the snug ..is right next to the Bell tower, the pub dates back as an Inn to the 12th century....and the plaque on the wall reads this..

On the side of the Bell tower facing the Inn..there's a tiny door...it looks kind of like a priest hole...only about 4 feet high and it says this...

This is where we had lunch..it's a beautiful Art deco building that was once a cinema ...and really beautifully decorated inside art deco style ...unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me only my phone...so indoor photos are not very good on that...but you can see the photos on TA if you want...

@Bonnie Thomas , I quit buying brand new appliances several years back when I found out that I could buy refurbished ones at a fifth of the cost. Ten years ago I needed a new refrigerator, and I found that a large side by side would easily cost a $1,000. Then my son drug me to a poorer section of the city, and showed me all the many place that sold refurbished used appliances. I bought a great big side by side for $200., and they delivered it and took the old one away.

My washing machine broke a few weeks ago, so I had a repairman come to fix it or tell me to buy another one. He fixed it for $173. I asked him if he thought I might need another one soon, and he told me that if I decided to get another washing machine, to call him and he would buy my old one. Hmmmm?? He pointed out to me that my washer and gas dryer were bought in 1985, had no rust, no dings, and were of a quality not to be had today. So I guess I'll just be keeping those.

The only appliance I'm worried about is my microwave because it's a built in above my stove, so it won't be cheap to replace. I probably won't replace it, just buy a tiny one and put it on the counter. My washer and dryer are also 13 yrs old and look brand new.

Thanks Ruby. I do have a Sears scratch & dent store close by if I need to do something. And I probably would go that way. I'm hoping that by morning everything will be fine and I can forget it. (for now)

I'll heed your words @Holly Saunders. You're right.

And @Ina I. Wonder, when/if I buy a new refrigerator, it won't be a huge side by side. No way do I need anything other than a small one for myself. .. ..and things like the water/ice maker in the door ..$$$ ...don't need that either.
    That was my husband's needs.

As life has turned, I see everything in a new light these days ... smaller and downsizing everything as things are needed.:)

I'm the same Bonnie, that's why I'm using the fridge in my garage. The one in the kitchen is pretty big and it's in a fitted space so anything smaller wouldn't look right.

Mine is in a fitted space (large space) too, but I just wouldn't worry about how a small one would look.
I'd put something along the side for fillers...lol ;)

PS. I think I worried about nothing (this time) ....

Taking break from cleaning out the fridge and freezer. Those darn maraschino cherries tipped over again, red sticky stuff, ugh. I'll eat a few more and throw them away. Only had them when my neighbor and I got the bright idea of making Mad Men Manhattans, which were awful.

    Evenin' all..

Usual earth shattering body and mind exhausting day for me today...and it's only 8.30pm now and I feel so tired like I've been working for a week straight...I could go to bed but as I only sleep a few hours at a time, I'd be awake again early hours..*sigh* ...anyway it's not that I dislike my job, it's just that there's not enough hours in the day to do it, and nowhere nearly enough staff.

Anyway just though I'd offload that on you all.. it makes me feel better :D

And we all feel for you Holly, I sure do. I know how awful it is when my back hurts just to do anything at all, the thought of working a long tiring day makes me shudder. You have my admiration.
