@Yvonne Smith's comfrey thread reminded me I'd better get cracking on dehydrating some fruits & veggies, so I decided to buy this from Amazon:

I don't know how long I'll be needing the stuff, so I'll take the risk of the preservatives for the short-to-medium term survival benefit.

I also Walmart-ordered some of that Creamy Chicken Ramen all the kids here are talking about, and replenished my supplement inventory so I've got at least a 360 day supply in addition to the bottles I've already got open.

I dry my fruit with nothing on them. The flavor intensifies but most of my stuff, picked ripe, don't even need sugar.

PS The birds didn't bother the pollinators as much as I thought. This is one of the best apple years I've seen. Might have to remove the small ones early.

I just had a terrible thought. What if Biden was right? What if inflation is good for the economy and it is going to be transitory and everything goes back the way it was?
Everyone will be stocked up with stuff and mad at me for their houses imploding from the weight!

I don't know about the transitory economy, but I foolishly stocked up during the Covid Hoard of '20 and have a lot of flour and stuff that's expired now. I won't do that again.

Recent purchases-- a couple of new lawn sprinklers. Our lawn is looking really sad these days.

Expiration dates don't really apply unless it is whole wheat flour or anything with fats/oils in it. The dates are more to keep the stores rotating product. You won't get sick from 5 year old white flour. If it does not contain some diatomaceous earth it might get bugs in it. But most commercial grain products add that.

We have an old gas powered cultivator so I decided to dig it out and turn up some dirt.
First though, I needed to do a carb job on it because it quit on me last year and that’s normally the culprit if it isn’t the plug.
There was some gas in it that was left over and it had turned bad so with the carb job I had to clean the tank and replace the filters and lines.
I then decided to check the plug and clean it but as gently as I tried to get the plug wire off, the contact decided to snap off the wire so I stripped a portion and installed a new contact.

After all was said and done and feeling quite confident that it would start, I took it out, squeezed the primer bulb 6 or 7 times, pulled on the rope and the recoil spring for the pull rope decided to come loose or break.

Said I to myself, “self, This Sucks” or……something to that effect. . The dastardly beast is still sitting out there dead with it’s long skinny tongue like rope hanging uselessly out of it’s orifice.

The question was, “Do it take it back to the bench and tear yet another portion of the engine apart”? “Why”? Just so another part can break and disappoint me anew?
“HECK NO”, said I ……..or something to that effect.
“I’ll give you to my wife and she can make a flower pot out of you OR I’ll dissect you until there is not one piece or part that one can logically identify as being a part of a cultivator” !! WE’RE divorced, we’re done, we’re through. Go back to the abyss from which you CAME !! or something to that effect.

Observe…..it’s replacement !! It’ll be here Thursday and will do my every bidding without complaining and belching up smoke. IT WILL BE MY SLAVE……Hahahahahahahahahahahah…

Purchase a clearance item from HSN, a laptop portable stand. I remember seeing it around the holidays for about $30 they had on clearance for $6.49 plus shipping which was $3.50.
