Ringling Bros shut down in 2017 and stopped using a tent years earlier. I have always felt fortunate to have seen them perform in a tent twice in my life.
Never went to the circus in a tent, but I went to Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey in the Houston Summit in the late '70s. The Summit is now Lakewood Church, where they turn away flood victims.
I recall driving by a circus in northern Virginia around 2008 or so. There were "protesters" at the entrance where families were driving in. The protesters were dressed as clowns with blood all over them, trying to deter families from entering because animals were being abused in there.
All three times we've seen Ringling Bros. Circus, it was inside an arena. We seen the very last show where the elephants performed. Nothing in this world like seeing a 3-Ring circus going on. Gotta keep the old eyes moving from one end of the arena floor to the other to keep up with all of the action.
PSA.....Never put elephant poop from under the train on your tomatoes. Or so I hear. No, I've never seen a circus
