Manchin gets Democrat votes because he's a Democrat, and. he gets Republican votes because he doesn't always vote in lockstep with his Party. For this, he gets enough Republican and Independent votes to carry the day for him. Republicans are wrong to depend on him as much as they do, however. He's more loyal to the Democrat Party than some Republicans are to the Party they registered in.
