Roe v. Wade said the states had no say in the issue. It was solely a "right" determined by the Federal Government, so yes, they did overturn it and it has gone back to the states. Overturning the decision wasn't outlawing abortion as the uninformed claimed.

They just whine if things don't go their way. Filibuster was good when they needed it. But when the Republicans used it they wanted it GONE.

    Don Alaska,

And I am sure most states will ratify the right to terminate a pregnancy...as Kansas did two days ago 61% to 49%.

    John Brunner,

""...for each state to decide." IMHO is too arbitrary since there are women who can't travel to a state that allows abortion.
Also, to pretend a woman carries an unwanted child ONLY hurts the kid. Resentment presents in most ways than one.
Yes, you can tell me "She can give the child in adoption". Sure, but the nine months / complications / risks are all hers.

It's not arbitrary...it's constitutionally required. The Fed has no authority in the matter, unless there's a Constitutional Convention and the states specifically grant that authority.. I'm not taking a position, I'm just stating a legal fact.

    John Brunner,

Sure is a fact...but arbitrary none the less...as is to prevent a pregnant woman to travel to a state where abortion is legal.
Women have spoken in Kansas and they will speak in each state next election.
Trust me, "overturning R v W will successfully lead to its ratification by most states and to become law."

That is how our system works. But late stage abortions for anything but to save a life disgust me.

I don't think it was just women speaking in Kansas...on either side What they really said was "Our constitution is not a political football. This issue does not elevate itself to the level of constitutional inclusion...either way."

The law has not been modified. Current law in Kansas allows abortions up to 22 weeks with some restrictions, such as a 24-hour waiting period and parental consent requirements for minors. There's a "viability" standard, and a "physical health risk to the mother" standard, to be confirmed by 2 physicians.

22 weeks is 5 1/2 MONTHS. More than enough time to decide without causing horrible pain to a live baby being ripped apart.

    John Brunner,

R v W is not a law but a resolution. No. not only women voted pro-choice in Kansas; I am sure many men did as well...but compared to the last election twice the number of women went to the polls.
About "parental consent for minors" is ridiculous: The young girl DOESN'T WANT HER PARENTS TO FIND OUT SHE IS PREGNANT....Parental consent will force the kids to hide the pregnancy until no abortion is possible. Repulsive.

The 2022 Supreme Court didn't ban abortion. It simply put the decisions in the hands of state legislatures, where they should have been all along. As there is no Constitutional right to abortion, these are matters left to the states.

Who's the rapist in that scenario? Do you even care? The adult man that was raping little children in Ohio was out there doing it again and again and again and the adults in the system allowed it to continue. Your priorities need some serious scrutiny, if they remain consistent long enough to even be defined.

And who in the Hell decides that the state supplants the parents in ANY scenario??? We have the school system telling kids to NOT talk to their parents. Repulsive.

There is 'always' the first 8 years of life, or more, to learn to value life and not abuse it,
if only parents and guardians and teachers and so on would all still instill this into young persons before the world corrupts them.......

The problem is that there are no standards or requirements to be a parent or a guardian. And teachers are agents of the system, despite what they wish they were permitted to be.
