The VA sure didn't do so well when it allowed us old guys to die in the VA homes, I guess they got a good tongue lashing when the news was reported, no one was reprimanded or fired for sure.

The locust shells I've seen were usually elongated and not so round. At first I thought that was a spider.
I think it's just the angle of the picture; it's definitely a cicada shell (as verified by Bobby.) "Cicada season" is just wrapping up around here and I've been finding those husks around the yard.
A surprising mask story: Yesterday I had my annual checkup with my urologist. This is on the outskirts of Rochester, so one expects more liberalism/more compliance with orders from on high. It's a fairly big place, has 6 check-in desks at the front. Of course there was a sign outside that masks must be worn. So in I go, with God's respiratory system working fine and not needing any man-made coverings. I looked around and all the patients waiting were masked. There were 3-4 women at the six desks, and several more walking around behind them, carrying papers, etc. About 1/3 were bare-faced, one had her mask under her chin and was drinking something, sat down at a desk, never put the mask up. The masked signer-in woman gave me a form to fill out, asked about changes, took my payment and NEVER ONCE MENTIONED ANYTHING ABOUT ME NOT WEARING A MASK. I sit down and fill the form out, in a few minutes a masked nurse calls me to come in the back, but NOTHING ABOUT ME BEING UN-MASKED, I left a urine sample, go into a waiting room, she comes in and still SAYS NOTHING. While in the hall I saw the PA and she was not masked, but a bit later when she came in she was masked. I spent a good 15 minutes with her and she NEVER ONCE SAID ANYTHING ABOUT ME BEING UNMASKED. So I go to the check-out woman finally, she was not masked, so all was well. Everyone, throughout the 45 minutes I was there, masked or not, was very congenial and normal acting. A buddy of mine who gets blood draws every week (different place that I went to last week) said they told him that the face diapers were probably here to stay. I've seen that mentioned online in various places around the country for some time now too. So, color me surprised -- in a happy way. The only way to get out of this Covid Fascism / WEF / The Great Reset is with MASS NON-COMPLIANCE. Become ungovernable. None of it was ever about medicine or anyone's health, that was just the convenient vehicle -- it was ALWAYS about control. The PTB now know just how compliant most Americans are. I have gone into mask required places and I ask, Do they require masks here? and the answer is usually, Whatever you want. I would really like a 'yes' answer in a restaurant where you can Prove on the spot how hypocritical it is.
In Virginia, "the law" still requires masks in medical facilities. I believe those are the only places here still acting stupid.
Here the VA still insists that Covid is a "critical" danger. I went to an ortho about a knee problem and masks there were optional, although I saw no one wearing one in the entire office--patients or staff. A cardiologist in the same building still appears to require masks, but the signs are not obvious. I don't know about the hospital, but I suspect they require masks. The vaccine mandate lawsuits have begun, but there is a concerted effort to keep that off the media.
Hospitals and clinics here still require them. Our hospital even has someone at the door checking temperatures and replacing anyone's cloth masks with paper ones. I don't have network television and I don't buy newspapers anymore so I don't usually hear or read local scare news. Usually, there won't be more than one or two people in the grocery store wearing a mask but every now and then half the customers will have them on, so I expect the media has posted another Covid story. The grocery store no longer supplies masks at the door as they once did, or, if they have them, they're no longer obvious.
I fell outside yesterday and having nothing to help me get up I called 911 on my cell. They were there in less than five minutes. Five guys in 2 different vehicles wearing masks outside in fresh air. when I got inside I looked at them and said that I knew they had t wear them . asked if they knew that science shows they do nothing and they all nodded agreement. it turns out that one of them had been there the last time I saw Judy and asked how she was.
A judge recently shot down DC's mandates, but at this point my cynical realistic side says that everyone knows it's all for show. The damage has been done. I can't believe that anyone who refused to get vaxxed has survived in any vax-mandated job this long. These suits might fight off booster mandates, but anyone who is still around has already been injected. Besides, it's an election year and the Fear Porn may be put on hold...temporarily.
